I think Jessi's mum was in advertising.

I think Claudia's dad is an investment banker (not sure).

^ yeah, Claud's dad was an investment banker, IIRC. And her mum was the head librarian at Stoneybrook Public Library. Kristy's mum worked in advertising too, although I cannot for the life of me remember the reference. The BSC parents jobs were very generic.

Didn't someone say that Kristy's mum's job was mentioned in one of the LS books?

^^In Claudia's portrait, she says her dad is a lawyer. Yet another lawyer and inconsistancy. Stoneybrook must be very litigious.
There really are a lot of stalkers in this book. Dawn, Claud's secret admirer, Mallory's spying... And then Mary Anne and Mallory's obsession with Alexandra the chronic liar in a skimpy (ie: sophisticated) bikini.
I hated that there were absolutely no consequences to Karen running off and getting a manicure. Kristy laughed and took a picture! What is that?!
And for the record:

Well, just look at all those divorced parents, remarriages etc.

Baby-Sitters On Board is one of my favorite Super Specials. I like all the storylines, even the Pike boys and David Michael racing around with a "treasure map". And Mallory's spying was funny in a dorky way. It didn't get annoying until she continued to do it in every subsequent Super Special.
I think this Super Special is evidence that Ann M. knows how to weave a good story with many crossing storylines. It's too bad she didn't continue with the series longer. The early books really were quality.
One thing I disliked about the book, and it's a tiny and irrelevant thing, is that Watson wouldn't let the girls eat out of the mini-fridge. He's a millionaire. He can afford a two dollar bag of M&Ms. The man is such a tightwad.
Claudia isn't very bright. She probably doesn't know what her dad does.

What does Stacey's dad do in NYC? In Stacey McGill...Matchmaker? (#124?) Mrs McGill says when she first met Mr McGill he was a defence lawyer, and then became a corporate lawyer.

I think that's just another one of those inconsistencies. And maybe they do in the 80's (about lawyers becoming VP's? Like a firm that is so big that not everybody has to be a lawyer anymore? People can do administrative work, like what presidents and vps do? I dunno.

Argh! And here I was thinking I'd finally gotten straight what he did...Lawyers generally become partners if they progress that far don't they? I guess we can just attribute it to ghost writers. Unless he changed jobs of course.

I reckon it was ghostwriters. In Stacey's Lie, there's all this stuff about him faxing reports to clients in California, and having business reports to read on the beach and stuff. In Math Whiz, he comments about how he'd walk down a street and all the CEOs would be calling for him to get a job... Matchmaker is the only book I can think of that says lawyer; everything else points to a corporate big shot.

What did everyone think about Kristy's friendship with Mr. Staples? It's sweet that she invited him to have dinner with her family and they played arcade games together and stuff since he was alone on the cruise, but wouldn't there have been some eyebrows raised nonetheless at an old man and a thirteen year old who have just met spending a lot of time together. In this SS they all make new friends quickly and spend more time with them than hanging out with each other. Only time they got together it seemed, was at night to discuss what kind of gift to give the adults.

It seemed kind of random that she so easily set him up with Nannie... It's like, "Hey, random, single old guy! You'd be a perfect date for my grandmother!". That said, I did like the friendship between Kristy and Mr Staples; I thought it was sweet.

I thought Kristy's friendship with mr. Staples was a little weird. I guess I could picture a 13 year old talk to an older guy sometimes, but friendship..? spending a lot of time together?? I don't think so...
