I always thought that was wrong too. She was a guest in their place, that and she barely knew them.

Definitely. And my fist thought with her barely knowing them was not only could they have gotten in trouble for the dog being in there but one of them could have also been allergic. (I'm very allergic to dogs and can't imagine someone hiding one in my house. I would probably have to move because I wouldn't be able to get all of the "dog" out of the place ;D Seriously, I can even tell if a dog has ever been in a vehicle and it makes me sick). I thought Kristy was pretty selfish in this one, irresponsible too. Surprisingly, I didn't mind Laine too much in this book. I usually can't stand her but she didn't seem quite as stuck up or "cool".

Laine was more normal in this book than in other books. I didn't mind her as much as I do in other books either.

I agree, Kristy shouldn't have done that, how rude! Haha, mandatory "I'm in LUV" couple, lol.

Dawn being too scared to venture out of the apartment was so unrealistic. Hahaha, I don't know, sotypical! I'm 21 and I think I'd be like Dawn if I ever went to New York! It's just like a huge, scary place to me and I always sympathized with Dawn in this one, I mean she is only 13 and homegirl grew up in the 'burbs! I'm from a pretty small city and I just moved to Berkeley to go to school and I was pretty afraid at first but like Dawn, I got over it!

^ I think I might be pretty scared, too. Not necessarily in NYC but in similar situations. Sometimes, I'm pretty bold like Kristy, but not always with stuff like this. I have a tendency to be "overly cautious" that probably comes from my dad being extremely "safety conscious" and always thinking in terms of what might go wrong in a situation.... Thinking about it, I can imagine Charlotte having similar problems (maybe because her dad is also an engineer ;D)

I work in our city (although it's no NY, not close!) so I think I'd be okay. More excited, but still cautious.

I was in NYC for a week a couple years ago and absolutely loved it. I have to admit that I wondered how I would adjust to the fast pace there, since I've been living in the quiet country since I was 10. I felt like I fitted right in, though- I guess because, like I said, I like cities anyway. I'm planning on visiting NY sometime again next summer. Actually, I fantasize about living there someday. Not sure if that'll ever happen, though.

I wouldn't be scared at all if I went to NYC (which I'd like to do). I'd be very into exploring everything. Even as a kid, I never really identified with Dawn's fears...but I did like the description of the day she spent exploring with Richie. That sounded like so much fun!!!

^ I did, too. Their relationship and the day they spent together was one of my favorite parts of this one.

I am really confused by the fact they spent 2 weeks in nyc. In Get Well Soon, Mallory!, Mallory mentions that NYC is close enough that they can just call it "the city." The book made it seem like none of them had ever been to new york before, when it was certainly close enough for field trips and family day trips. In Welcome Home, Mary Anne, Dawn, Sunny, and Mary Anne easily sneak off for the day. I mean, you can easily take the Connecticut to NY commuter train. There's even a line CALLED the stamford line that goes from the city to westchester to connecticut. I mean, it's a very easy and relatively cheap journey. I just don't understand their excitement, given that they live in Connecticut. I didn't understand their excitement either, considering they live so close to NYC and could easily get there and go on a day trip whenever they wanted. The fact that they stayed there for two weeks confused me too. I could understand going to the city for a weekend trip at most, but two weeks? That's stretching it, even for a big city like NYC. The whole BSC acting like tourists thing also bugged me while reading this book- it was almost like none of them ever went there before. I even got that vibe from Stacey and she lived there before. I did like this book though. I loved Mal's mouse story and when Rowena and Allistaire go to FAO Schwartz (we used to have one in Chicago but then they closed it ).

^As for Stacey acting like a tourist, I can kind of understand that because I like pretending to be a tourist sometimes in my own town, especially when friends come to visit. And I imagine there are always new things to do and see in NYC - any big city really. Of course, I'm from a pretty small town and am a "touristy" sort of person like MA. ;D
