He also wrote other books. I haven't read them so I can't give my opinion on them but perhaps you could check them out.

I haven't read them either, but I think I've flipped through some. From what I remember they were also pretty wacky.

I actually have googled him...and yes, he's a remarkable author. I notice, though, that on his websites, the BSC books are not mentioned. Who knows...he may or may not have penned some of the BSC books. Maybe he wrote some of the Friends Forever books...maybe he penned that silly Stacey versus Claudia storyline. π

Iβll see his books in the childrenβs room at the library, reading the backs of them are always fun to see what heβs been doing.

I'm certain that he "penned" the BSC books where his name is mentioned. He probably doesn't add it to his resume as they're highlighted under a different author.

He was also an author of the 39 Clues series that came out around 10 years ago. I was working at Borders and he and the other authors actually came to do a book signing. I mentioned he was a ghostwriter for the BSC and one of my coworker was shocked. "Wait, the Babysitters Club was ghostwritten?!" Oops.
I think he wrote Claudia best. He got her sass down and made her really snarky!

I have mixed thoughts on Peter L. I think it depends on which character he is narrating. I HATE the way he writes the Pikes and pretty much any large group of kids; he writes them so obnoxiously and I think as a reader I'm supposed to find the sitting chapters funny, but they're just annoying and I can't wait to finish them.
But I like how he writes Abby and Claudia most out of the sitters. He tends to write them all a bit more snarky, which works for these two. For Claudia, she doesn't seem to be over the top, and with Abby, his wackiness just works well with her character. Kristy seems to be a little... dumber (sorry) when he writes her, Dawn is OTT obnoxious, Stacey can seem meaner, and I really don't like when he writes Jessi. She seems far less sensitive than in other books. I'm neutral on the other sitters.
He tends to write emotional scenes pretty well in my opinion. I cried at the Grand Canyon chapter in BSC in the USA. He wrote most of the CDs as well, and I think his style suits Sunny, Amalia, and Ducky well. Maggie not so much, but tbh I don't like her anyway (again, sorry).
One weird pet peeve of mine with his writing: everyone talks about the overuse of onomotopoeia, but he's always writing things like, "I threw a (item, usually candy wrapper or food) at X character" or "I wanted to throw X at x." I'm not sure why this bothers me, but it comes up a lot and I've never seen anyone talk about it. It's supposed to be funny but just feels immature (I know they're 13 but still) and sometimes like the characters have anger issues.
I guess what I'm saying is that he can be VERY hit or miss for me. I guess I weirdly think he does more serious stuff really well and that his sense of humor just isn't my cup of tea.
