Sorry if there is already a thread for something like this I didn't see one but please let me know Are there any of the BSC Books you just can't get through? Some of the Little Sister books I have tried to read but just literally cannot finish reading it because of Karen and most of the characters never speaking in contractions. It just seemed so unrealistic, people don't speak like that. Same with the Kids in Ms Colman's Class books. Some of the regular series books I have tried to read and never been able to finish are mainly ones like Kristy Thomas, Dog Trainer which was just so boring. I haven't tried to re-read it lately but perhaps I should. Other ones that come to mind are ones like Jessi's Big Break and Baby-sitters' Fright Night. I don't find them necessarily bad books and I know they may be popular, but I think sometimes the stories just don't hold my interest and I can't bring myself to finish them. Anyone else have any books they've tried to read but have trouble getting through it, for whatever reason?

I mean, I was always aware of the no contractions in LS, but it never stopped me from finishing the stories. Did you begin reading them as a child or an adult?

I only started reading Little Sister as an adult. Looking back, If I started when I was 8 or so I probably wouldn't have noticed as much. But even as a kid, I thought Karen was annoying ! lol

Nope, no matter how bad or boring some of them are, I've never not been able to finish any

Stacey's Ex-Boyfriend. So boring.
Mallory and the Dream Horse. Bleh. Mal was such a wimp. And it's boring.
Dawn's Big Sleepover. Totally unrealistic, boring, and I don't like Dawn.
MA and Too Many Boys.

I love Dream Horse! I always really liked the scene where Mal plays Barbies with Nina because I was so obsessed with Barbies as a kid.

The Mallory Christmas special (can't remember the title). And Stacys ex:friend first came to mind. I remember hating the main plot to dream horse but loving the subplot though.

My general rule with books is dump them if I'm not into them by like 30 pages. (That doesn't sound like much, but my time is precious. ) I've never quit a BSC or LS, but there are a few that I would never want to read again. Camp BSC and Pony Camp come to mind. They were deathly boring.

I only got halfway through Starring the BSC and couldn't go on, very little story and most of the characters were really annoying.

Most Mallory books and Sea City books. I adore the concept of Sea City, but I can't stand the drama the Baby Sitters (mostly Stacey) bring to it.

I also couldn't get into Claudia, Queen of the Seventh Grade (of course she's doing better when she's retaking classes and on the other hand I couldn't believe that she would be that popular) and quit after I think three chapters.

I haven't read them all yet, and some I found more boring than others (usually Jessi or Mal books) but I always finished them

I couldn't get through any Mallory book (with the exceptions of Trouble with Twins and Mystery Diary). The way she gets treated in these books are awful.
