I don't remember this one...at all. Does Mrs McGill have her own chapters?

That would be kind of awesome, wouldn't it? The vacations from the parents' perspectives... "That Mallory Pike is a bit odd, I have no clue why she's crouching in corners and scribbling furiously in a notebook."

^I would love if the parents had even part of a super special chapter. It would have been so sweet for example to have read about Kristy and the others giving the adults the photo albums and journals after Baby-sitters on Board. I know this wasn't a super special but I read Karen's Ski Trip this morning to cool off and at one point David Michael and his mom go skiing together. A chapter written by DM and Edie about that would have been great to see, the two of them spending time together. Maybe we could have also gotten to hear such conversations as between Watson and Sgt. Johnson in Christmas Chiller or even one of conversation on the phone between Lisa and Ms. Colman to give a fuller picture, interesting and fun to think about, thanks Boo Boo

Having parents with their own chapters would be great-that could go on the Wish List for Super Specials. Have their own POV when it comes to the BSC. Not just the parents of the girls but the parents of the clients as well. Mrs Newton, and Dr. Johannsen would be cool.

^That's also a wonderful idea, lovebug. Mrs. Newton is my very favorite client parent (Jamie my very favorite charge) and I'd love a chapter from her POV. Early on especially she did seem close to the girls, particularly Kristy. I think she and Elizabeth were friends. I could imagine Kristy thinking of her as a friend, too--sweet . Claudia and Mrs. Newton also had a closer relationship and perhaps if Claud had remembered that or been allowed to by the ghostwriters, that friendship could have meant a lot to her too. I will always wish we had gotten to read more about Stacey and Dr. Johannsen and from Mal's one post-card to Stacey's mom, maybe they talked every now and then. Elizabeth could have reached out more to MA, too. I would still love to know how Lisa and Seth became so close to Ms. Colman and her husband. I also would think and hope Lisa often talks with Nancy parents and probably Hannie's sometimes, too same with Watson. David Michael should in general have been developed better and if he had Elizabeth and Watson would have interacted with his friends parents too and I have a feeling some of them (Buddy, Jackie, Linny, come to mind as two) were already BSC clients. Same with Andrew and even Sam and Charlie. Thanks for something new BSC to think about

The original title of Mallory's story? "If Life Is a Barrel of Monkeys, I Must Be a Banana." To quote Claudia: Oh. My. Lord. LMAO That reminds me of an episode of The Golden Girls, when Rose (the dumb one) exclaims all happily, "Life is one big weenie roast, and i'm the biggest weenie!"

I don't have the book with me right now, so I can't look it up, but I'm pretty sure someone says that Toronto is the capital of Canada. It's not. And I think someone refers to Quebec as a city, which is also inaccurate. Come on, do a little research before writing. I don't recall anyone saying that about Toronto. I have the book handy and I found this exchange (from Kristy's chapter, page 44): P.S. Quebec is definitely a city... and a province. Quebec (aka Quebec City or City of Quebec) is the capital of the province of Quebec.

Mallory- like someone said, I don't think that Shakespeare could have been related to Mallory directly. Other then that, snore. Although, I wondered how one of her uncles ended up with the name of Jordan is beyond me. Why is that unbelievable? Many people name their kids after family members. Therefore, it's not unreasonable to suppose that Mallory's parents named one of their sons after her brother. My sister named her son after her father-in-law. P.S. Check out my post below and how the Lincoln's recycled family names ad nauseam.

I was just going to comment on this after having just re-read it. The first time, I didn't know much about Shakespeare, so I didn't catch it. Thanks for providing a link. Furthermore, I was gonna mention that Abraham Lincoln and George Washington also don't have any direct descendants. Washington and Martha Dandridge Custis had no children of their own, but she did have two surviving kids from her first marriage to Daniel Parke Custis. Martha was widowed at only 25, and when she married Washington 2 years later, he helped raise her son and daughter, who were 5 and 3. As for Lincoln, he and Mary Todd had four sons, but only the eldest, Robert Todd Lincoln (1843-1926) lived to adulthood and beyond. Robert had three children, but only two reproduced. His middle child, Abraham Lincoln II (1873-1890), died of blood poisoning at only 16. Robert's eldest, Mary Todd (1869-1938), had a son, Lincoln Isham (1892-1971), but he died childless. Robert's youngest, Jessie Harlan (1875-1948), had two children, Mary Lincoln Beckwith (1898-1975) and Robert Todd Lincoln Beckwith (1904-1985), but neither produced offspring, either. So the line died with Robert Beckwith just 30 years ago. Or did it? When Beckwith was married to his second wife, Annemarie Hoffman, she gave birth to a son she named Timothy Lincoln Beckwith (b. 1968), despite the fact that Beckwith had had a vasectomy six years prior. A messy divorced ensued, and the court ordered for Timothy to undergo a blood test, which Hoffman refused, so the court ruled that Timothy was not Beckwith's son but the product of an adulterous relationship. Today, Timothy Beckwith resides in Florida, where he works as an attorney. Incidentally, Tom Hanks is a distant relative of Lincoln. Hanks is Lincoln's 3rd cousin, four times removed. They are related through Nancy Hanks, Lincoln's mother.

I forgot to mention, why couldn't Victoria spell (at the end, when they show her letter to Abby)? You would think that a princess who'd had the best private tutors and schooling would know better.

Ahhh, I feel bad for ruining the secret of Mary Poppins NOT being filmed in London for everyone! I was actually really disappointed when I found out, too. It's one of the pop-up facts on my edition of the DVD, and I couldn't believe it. Mary Poppins was what got me into London back when I was a kid, which means it's indirectly why I'm going there for so long next month. Another 1964 film that takes place in London but was entirely shot in CA is My Fair Lady. Today, both films would definitely be filmed in England, mainly because of their movie production incentives (i.e. tax benefits). In the past 15 years, the UK has bent over backwards in an attempt to lure Hollywood film/TV production there, and they have been successful. A lot of the Marvel films and new Star Wars franchise have been or will be filmed there. The Harry Potter series was almost shot in LA -- Daniel Radcliffe almost missed out, because his parents would not have allowed him to travel to LA at age 11 if that was the case (heretofore, all his films had been filmed in the UK) -- but the UK nearly had a heart-attack and offered Warner Bros. tax incentives and even tweaked child labor laws (i.e. adding a small number of working hours per week and making the timing of on-set classes more flexible) to secure the filming rights. Warner Bros. eventually purchased Leavesden Film Studios (now Warner Bros. Leavesden) to use for future productions. However, a lot of states are getting into the act (e.g. Louisiana, Massachusetts, Georgia, NY, New Mexico), so I foresee the pendulum swinging back and a lot of filming returning to the US.

Could you combine some of your thoughts into one or two posts or edit posts in the future? No double posting is one of the forum rules and you have six posts in a row. Thanks.

Out of all the super specials this one has to be my favorite. I'm going to England next summer if we get enough people to sign up. I love how Jessi got her tiny part. And I really wish that we get more of Stacey and Kristy together in more books. They were so funny together.
