I just read this one. Yeah, the playground chapters were kind of pointless, it really wasn't much of a plot. But the illustration of Janine is really cute, even though she looks pissed off. It's much more flattering than the cover of Claudia and Mean Janine. I'm just glad that Logan didn't go to Europe, to get a repeat of MA in SS#3 (except with gorgeous French girls), but at least she would have had her own plot instead of a lame Cokie plot and bleedover from Claudia's. The Stacey/Kristy interaction was hilarious. I also liked the WWII plot, it was really interesting and touching. And I think Stacey's reaction to the ashes was very normal 13 year old, instead of being super mature about everything. I was eh on Kristy/Michel. I liked him, but blah on love-hate plots. They're so overdone for me, but that might be from reading too much fanfiction. The Jessi ballet plot was okay. Realistic? No, but it wasn't bad. I like Jessi's ballet books, but the storyline here was just okay for me. At least someone called Mal out on spending her vacation with her nose in her journal instead of just being like "Oh, Mal's a writer. That's why she spent her vacation in another country doing what she can do in Stoneybrook. We love her anyway!" I didn't actually pay a lot of attention to the family tree, but I did get a bit of a geek out over Mrs. Pike's maiden name being Bennett because one of my favorite British singers' last name is Bennett. But I don't know if he's related to Shakespeare.

^Yeah, the Kristy/Michel thing gets old reeealy quickly. Stacey+Kristy=sidesplitting laughter "At least someone called Mal out" <---Total Word. I was like "Yeah, Jessi! You finally told her!!!" Mal was a complete dork about the whole Shakespeare thing, but really, when is she NOT a dork?! (I still <3 Mal, though!)

That's why she spent her vacation in another country doing what she can do in Stoneybrook. We love her anyway. Total word. It bugged me so much that Mal had her nose stuck in her book when they were in..what, France? I don't remember. But yeah. I'm 12 years older than Mal and I've never been to Europe. I want to go so badly, and it blew me away that she was sitting on a bench writing in her notebook instead of sightseeing. It makes her seem so indifferent. I'm glad someone *finally* said something to her. I need to get over my jealousy issues with a fictional 11-year-old.

I need to get over my jealousy issues with a fictional 11-year-old. LOL Don't feel bad. I think we've all been at that point before. I remember reading California Girls and whining, "Why can't I go to California?"

Seriously, Mal could have just taken out her notebook and jotted down her brilliant ideas for her story, and then put it away easily. She's even writing while they're having a meal, as I think one illustration indicates. It was good of Jessi to point out to her that writers need to experience life in order to write, but maybe Mal thought she would see England and France in the future, because she has relatives in London, and well, of course, when she's grown, she'll be a world-famous author.

Don't feel bad. I think we've all been at that point before. I remember reading California Girls and whining, "Why can't I go to California?" That was me with Baby-sitter's on Board. I want to go to Disney World so badly, and have for years. 22 years old, and I've still never been. I suppose if I really wanted to go, I could. I often decide I want to go somewhere and just go by myself (usually to follow the Rent tour around, admittedly) but a trip to Disney World wouldn't be much fun alone.

I think I need to reread this one again...I'm planning a trip to London for next year, and I need some inspiration. Just don't tell anyone that I'm planning my trip based on the BSC.

Haha. Whenever I go anywhere the BSC has, I ALWAYS try to do the stuff they do. I'm just excited that my next trip involves days in Stamford, CT. It'll almost be like Stoneybrook being real!

Well notably, so far, I've only been to two places that they've been. When I was in LA, I went to Universal Studios. And then of my many travels to New York. I think Europe and Disney World are the priorities, here. My friend and I really want to go to England and Wales, but... you know, that costs money, lol.

i lived in New York and have spent a fair amount of time in Disney World. And I've been down the shore, although not to Sea City specifically cause it's not real. But everything else... never.

I've been to Disneyland which was mentioned in #23, and I live near Seattle, which they visited in "BSC in the USA." Other than that, nothing. London is my top travel priority right now, but not because of the BSC or this book. I've always wanted to go there, and there's way more to do than what the club did.

^ I know, it's awful! I'm not going to let it stop me, though. I'll just have to be VERY careful with my budget.

Oh, yeah, I know a guy who's from England, and spent a year in the States and when he went back home was like "Holy crap, everything costs twice as much! Not really, but... wow." And everyone thought he was American because his accent had become so affected.
