That's pretty funny! I love this event and I love that other towns are doing it too. That website said your town has been doing it for 17 years -- there are probably kids out there who have never had a Christmas without going.

I'm gonna write my Christmas cards out tonight or tomorrow. I'm only sending 5 out. I stick to the 50+ crowd and little kids. I feel like the ages in between probably hit the garbage can pretty quickly.

Gifts are easiest for elders and children in my opinion in between are harder and requires more thinking.

I like christmas, but this will be the first one without my dad. So that will be hard or at least, strange. We still went ahead and decorated, both at me and my fiancé's house and at my moms, where we are now staying for a bit. Christmas is always busy, we go to my family one day (me and the fiance, my mom and brother, aunt and uncle, two cousins, one husband and one little boy, almost two) and his family the next (his mom and her new boyfriend, his sister and her husband and their two boys, just turned two and the other less than a month old!). So I am counting on that keeping us busy and the little boys providing some fun and distraction. I don't have all my presents for everyone yet, but have sent out all my christmas cards. I love sending and receiving mail (I'm like Mary Anne that way - sometimes collecting the mail IS the highlight of my day) and since many of my friends live far away, christmas is a great opportunity to write them all, including the ones that are not as keen on sending snail mail, to tell them I am thinking of them.
It is really unseasonably warm here and many people, including myself, have found it harder to get into the spirit of the season. Can't believe christmas eve is only a few days away!

I hope everyone's holidays were merry and beautiful! And hope your New Year's Eves are fun. I think we are planning to light a fire and roast s'mores and tell stories
