Upon re-reading books #1-4 and seeing how much more down to earth and 'real' they seem as 12 year olds, I began to think of the opposite; which of the BSC books would you say are the most outlandish?
Among the ones that I read, I'd say it was "Super Special #4: Baby-Sitters Island Adventure." What are some other nominations?

Oh, there's plenty, heh.
Mary Anne and the Search for Tigger
Jessi and the Super Brat
Mary Anne and Too Many Boys
Dawn and the Older Boy
Jessi and the Dance School Phantom
Kristy and the Baby Parade
Super Special #5: California Girls!
Kristy + Bart = ?
Kristy's Worst Idea
Abby's Twin
Mary Anne and Miss Priss
Mary Anne Break the Rules
Mallory Pike, #1 Fan
I agree with Island Adventure. That being said, I enjoy Island Adventure, California Girls, Worst Idea, K + B = ?, #1 Fan, the Older Boy, etc. the others, not so much!

I do remember Jessi and the Superbrat as well as about half of the regular books you listed vaguely; I also just read "Kristy's Worst Idea" for the first time (bought the download kindle edition from amazon today). It wasn't as outlandish as I thought it would be as it was my first new BSC book in over 20 years; Kristy is her "stereotyped dictator self" but it was nice to see the other girls stand up to her and for everyone to face the reality that you can't do it all. I wish Jessi's dance school would keep the dance class on Friday evenings rather than everything going back to Kristy's way again. I guess I'll see more of this when I read "Everything Changes" (not on amazon either as a kindle or hardcopy so I'll have to order from BetterWorldBooks). Getting back to the original subject, I do agree with you that California Girls (as well as all the Super Specials) were also more outlandish the most of the regular books. What did you think of Super Specials #1 and #2?

SS #1: Babysitters on Board is great! I love it. I highly recommend you read that one. there's good snarky moments in that one especially with Karen and Mallory ha ha. SS #2: Babysitters' Summer Vacation is good, too. Snarky as well with Mary Anne and everybody and everything. It's a good BSC summer camp book.

I did read those two as a kid and I do remember the main ideas (Disney Cruise, summer camp) but nothing outlandish that stood out in paprticular (except how Mallory and Jessi got the special privilege of being counselors despite the fact that they were the same age as the campers); both books are available on amazon kindle so I might re-read them over the holidays.

I have got my own list of the most outlandish BSC books: Logan Likes Mary Anne-Richard may have loosened up since Mary Anne Saves the Day, but I doubt he would take kindly of Mary Anne getting into a serious relationship at the age of 13 Stacey's Mistake-With the possible exception of Claudia, I don't see the rest of the BSC's parents letting their children going to NYC by themselves. Ditto for SS#6. Most of the BSC Mysteries and Super Specials, but Aloha, Baby-sitters takes the cake!

Scoliosis is very real, I should know, I had it as a teen. I really liked that book because I could relate to it.

Dawn and the School Spirit War, lol. SMS had a near mass student uprising. And then there was some at other nearby schools, too. I can imagine it with college students. Maybe high school students, lol. Maybe. But middle schoolers?

I also find the fact that SMS having school dances every month ludicrous. Doesn't the school have more important thing to spend their money on?
