What is your favorite BSC 'book era' (regular books only, not SS, Mystery or FF books)?
A) Books #1-9 (7th grade and summer after)
B) Books #10-30
C) Books #30-60
D) Books #60-90
E) Book #90 onwards

Books #1-#9. I really enjoy the ones where the girls are in 7th grade and the summer before 8th grade. Too bad they were 7th graders for only 5 books...
For 2nd, I would choose #10-#30. Early 8th grade. The girls are maturing rapidly, but they still act their age.
Above those numbers, they are officially mini adults...

I voted 30 through 60. I reread this group a lot.

A lot of the later ones I enjoy but I have to say in the 30s.

I think the first books are simply the best written, hands down. I also enjoy the 10-30 books a lot: there were still loads of things happening to the girls (adoption of Michelle Anne, marriage of Dawn and MAs parents, Jeffs return to CA, Mimi's death,...) That were referred to throughout the rest of the series, where those kinds of things remained generally more static. The girls still had more of their own unflanderized personalities, too.

I picked #60-90 because I feel that this is when the cover art got a bit better (haha sorry I am basing this just on cover art at the moment). Books in the 70 and 80s range especially have great cover art to me (including the Super Specials and mystery books during this time too).

Even though the earlier books are "homier" I always enjoyed looking at the later cover art, especially for the outfits. Probably because I was growing up and getting more interested in clothes

Books 30-60 were when I was in my peak BSC fanatic-ness and would buy them from the book store every month. (Or score a 4 pack at Sam's Club. Jackpot.) Now, I don't know, but it's definitely 60 or below.

I re-voted to #10-#30. It's when all the action took place. Mary Anne and Logan. The BSC starting 8th grade for the first time. Stacey moving back to NYC and moving back to stoneybrook. Mimi's death. Louie's death. Jeff moving back to California. Sharon and Richard getting married. The arrival (and loss for a short period of time in #25) of Tigger. Ooh, yeah, and Mallory and jessi joining the BSC. Really a lot of drama happening in 20 books and 2 years of 8th/6th grade!! Plus a lot of those books in that era are my faves (#10, #11, #13, #14, #16, #18, #26, #28, #29, #30)

Group D. I like the Bad Girl storyline and the mid-90s feels more like the childhood I remember well than the 80s and early 90s stuff, since I was born in 1986.
I like the later books more than most. I like Lerangis and the overall drop in quality doesn't bother me because that's not why I'm reading BSC!

I like book from 10-30. I also like the early books. When Kristy, was still in her old neighborhood.

It's hard to pick one when the books are often hit and miss but I think my favorite era and style is probably 20-50 and 30-60 still wins. Post-60 I think the subplots and writing of the charges tended to be better but the writing of the sitters deteriorated.
