The time warp of Stoneybrook is very nerve wacking, so I decided to age the BSC while reading the books. I'm still stuck on Island Adventure and in it Claudia and Dawn are fifteen years old and are about to enter the tenth grade.
What do you guys think?

I always think of Mallory and Jessie as fourteen or fifteen years old, and the other girls as sixteen or seventeen years old because they act so much older than eleven and thirteen!

Yeah, I kinda do. I went to a 7-9th jr. high school, so that's how I would picture SMS. Nothing major, just 13 and 15 year olds instead.

I can't picture them as 13, they are always teens in high school in my mind.

I age them slowly but steadily, it feels like they are a year older about every 20-30 books.

The way they go through life and the misadventures the girls world go through make them sound a lot older. There's no way they could get away with winning the lottery and going to California by themselves.

I age them up to 15 and 13 when I read. Not old enough to drive but can still get away with something's.

I don't age them up on purpose, but I agree they write them older so they are older in my mind!

It's easy to picture them as 14-15 when the series begins instead of 12. But then something happens that reminds me that they are indeed 12... lol. Like in Mary Anne Saves the Day and they fought at Jamie's birthday party. They definitely sounded/acted their age in that entire book. But then you go on to Dawn and the Impossible Three and they seem older again. With hints of them being their actual age.
