I hate kids clothes today! I'd better not get started on that.... ;D As for makeup, I remember "experimenting" with some that my aunt had given me when I was Karen's age. I wore it at a horse show thinking I was pretty cool until my friend looked at me and said "WHO did your makeup? WHY are you wearing that?" ;D I was never big into make up after that (not because of that - just because I'm kind of like Kristy) I liked Scott Hsu in this one. What a sweet kid ;D

OMG, I remember that part! I couldn't believe how mean and selfish Hannie was in this book. I felt bad for Karen when Hannie told her she couldn't be in her wedding because of the haircut, I just wanted to grab those little pigtails of hers and throw her over the fence like The Trunchbull did to that girl Amanda Thripp in Matilda (my favorite movie) lol. It would have been a hilarious turn of events if our friend Watson ended up suing "Gloriana's House of Hair" for not only turning Karen into a mullet-head but also for complete ignorance. I mean, Karen gave Gloriana a picture that showed how she wanted her hair done, yet she blew it off completely and then to top it all off she was actually excited to show Karen the haircut that she screwed up. I mean seriously WTF? She should've been put out of business.

maybe stoneybrook had a serious punk scene and they all went to gloriana's. remember though that the big girls copied karen. maybe gloriana is a high fashion trendsetter.
yesterday on the train i saw this guy with a crazy mullet-ish haricut. it reminded me of what gloriana did to karen.

^ Love the thought of Karen going after Hannie and the Matilda reference, sweetvalleygirl ;D I can't stand it when you tell hairdressers what to do and they just do whatever they think is the "style". That's why when I want my hair trimmed, I have my mom do it now. I don't trust anyone else ;D

I think Lisa left Karen alone with Gloriana. She seemed rather surprised when she saw Karen's hairdo. Maybe I'm just overprotective but I think even the most outgoing seven year old (aka Karen) would be intimidated by an adult she didn't know and not speak up to correct what was going on.

^ Agree. She did show her a picture but Lisa should have stayed with her (thanks a lot Andrew ;D)

it seems kinda strange just to leave your 7 year old daughter with a stranger like that.

I hate kids clothes today! I'd better not get started on that.... ;D You're more than welcome to get started! What surprised me about the previous post is that this is happening in a Montessori school, where you'd think the parents would have more sense. On the other hand, at least the school can do something about it which they cant' in public school- wrong in and of itself.

my 8 y-o little sister has a tank top that says "miss october." i'm not really sure who purchased this for her, or why my parents allow her to wear it...

^is it wrong I laughed at that? it sounds cute...
How come Karen was alone at the hairstylist? I haven't read this in ages, but I'm pretty sure my niece has it so I'll have to borrow it.
And speaking of inappropriate childrens wear, my baby niece who is 18 months old has a onesie that says "my grandma is hot" on it and my mom seems to think it is super hilarious. and honestly, i love my mom but she is not hot...

^If I remember correctly, Watson had said he'd pay for Karen's "beauty treatment". Maybe he paid Glorianna before hand or maybe Lisa told her to charge it to Watson? ;D I agree though, blossom114, I wouldn't have given her a dime if that were my daughter's hair she butchered.
