I did feel really bad for Karen in this book, and I can imagine that it would be kind of like a kick in the pants. I mean, I'm sure my sister would be hurt if I got something like that over her, and we both have the same parents! I have to say that I felt worse for Kristy, though. What Karen said must have hurt really bad - I winced when I heard it, myself. Was also expecting and hoping the pin would turn up - I know in real life, it's not likely, but I wanted it to happen in this book. Now that I think about it .. it's kind of like how I lost my grad jewelry (but I only have myself to blame) though I looked countless places, I never found it, and it broke my heart

^I'm sorry to hear that. I would be crushed, too, if I lost something that important. I was also hoping the pin would turn up in this book. Maybe Karen let Kristy keep the paper pin. ;D

Okay, I just read this one, even though I think I've read it before.
All I can say is that Mrs Coleman seems to have a magical uterus. Because she was JUST married, and now she's pregant, and she plans to teach for several months, take two months off and then continue to teach... with the same class. Is she moving up a grade with the students or what? : ) Iknow, it's just that magical BSC timeline.
Karen was a brat. I wish one of the parents would have noticed Kristy crying or something and had a talk with Karen. Other then that, I thought it was pretty realistic with the emotions and all. I wish they would have found the pin later.

i felt sorry for Karen in this one and i didn't really think that she was out of line, or being a brat. I can understand Karen's feelings being hurt, her anger, her jealously, her motives. its got to really hurt, i'd be hurt and feeling the same thing if that was me.

I think Karen was being mean and selfish in this one. Watson probably gave the jewelry to Kristy because she was older and able to take care of it. Karen has gotten a lot of things from Watson. I thought Karen was a little jealous as well.

Karen acts mean and selfish in this book. Karen does get away with a lot of stuff. This is also the first time I've ever seen Kristy really angry with Karen.

^lol, you're agreeing with yourself. Nice. This book sort of riled me up. I was very much on Kristy's side. She said she had every right not to let Karen borrow something of hers no matter how many times Karen asked, and she's absolutely right. I can completely understand how jealous Karen must have been when Watson gave the pin to Kristy. And I don't fault her for not deciding to talk to her dad about it, because she's just a very hurt little kid. It's Watson's fault!! How could he give the pin to Kristy and just ignore Karen in the process? He needed to explain to her that he didn't do it because he favors Kristy. He needed to tell her not to feel bad about it. And his not punishing Karen is only going to teach her that she doesn't need to take good care of her possessions. I know little kids say dumb/cruel things without meaning to, and I'm sure Kristy moved on from it, but Karen made her cry I admire her for putting up with this sort of stuff from Karen and being kind enough to give HER a present that means they will be "sisters always." I really wanted the pin to be found at the end. Grrr.

I will feel the same way Karen did if I wasn't given the pin. After all, Karen is Watson's daughter. Some of the emotions Karen was going through were normal. By the way, Booboo Brewer, I'm not the only person on this board you know. I'm sure you have around 10 posts here commenting on what others have posted. Just because I comment on this post doesn't mean that I am agreeing with myself. How do you know that I'm not commenting on yuffies or someone else's post? Don't be so quick to assume. ;D I'm not trying to be rude.

Tiff, here's a friendly tip. If you're commenting on a specific post then click on the little quote button on the right hand side of their post. Otherwise it looks like you are commenting on the post directly above yours. What Booboo was refering to was the posts made by you as "annieb" and directly below it as "tiff85". It's already been established that both names are you, and the first sentence in each post was "Karen acts mean and selfish in this book."

;)Yes, understandable, but that was an OLD POST! The adminstration know that both names are me. That's yesterday's news. I don't know why the old post is not deleted since the account was deleted. Aren't we supposed to be discussing Karen's Big Sister? LOL ;D

Why, yes, we are. Which is what I was doing in my last post. I was joking with that first comment. Weren't you the one who said awhile ago, "if you don't like what is being written, don't respond"? Is it a bit hard to take your own advice, then?
I've already asked if you could tone down the defensiveness, I don't know what else I can do...

Tiff, posts are not generally deleted even if a member deletes her account. The annieb posts aren't going anywhere.

I felt bad for Kristy when Karen said she wasn't Watson's real daughter. I felt bad for Karen as well. I thought it was normal that she felt jealous of Kristy, who received the pin. I wish that the pin would've been found.
I agree in that I think that Watson should've explained to Karen why he gave Kristy the pin and that the whole thing could've been avoided if he did.

Karen was a b*tch to Kristy in this book. Poor Kristy. She does try to be a good older sister and she gets popped on a lot. Hello, Karen? Do you not think of the TONS of projects and festivals and Goddess-knows-what that Kristy and the BSC do for you and the other kids?
It makes sense though. Karen is probably jealous because Kristy, DM, Sam and Charlie see Watson full-time whereas she sees him part of the time.
