Hi everyone!
I wanted to post this here and send it as a message for optimum exposure. I know I’ve been slack over the last few years, and our presence on the board has dwindled, but I still would love to find a way for us all to talk about the books regularly. While the forum will always remind open and the main focus of our convos, I thought I would seek some opinions on other mediums we could use.
For example, would something like Instagram work? Twitter? I know not everyone uses Facebook.
I’m thinking specifically a book re-read using one of these.
Thoughts?

I think Facebook or this forum is the best place for a group reread. Twitter is to limited in characters and Instagram conversations never seem to flow well.

I have a Tumblr, but don't know about you guys. I find Tumblr easier to use.

Reddit maybe? I know you can create multiple conversations and stuff there.

Reddit, please. Reddit was created for anonymous discussion, and it’s easy to open an account there, for anyone who may not already have one.
Twitter and Instagram do not foster good discussion, and not everyone has or wants to use Facebook for a variety of reasons.
Reddit would be perfect.
ETA: A Goodreads group is also an option. I’ll definitely participate if we opt for either Reddit or Goodreads!

What about a discord server? It has voice chat so we could do a read out loud/story hour/whatever, and would be fun to also watch the BSC series (like a watch party) together when it comes out on Netflix! (There’s a website called rabbit where we can all watch at the same Time). It’s also nicer bc we can all chat in real time and still be anonymous

*waves hello!*
It's funny to receive this because I just messaged someone about BSC muses and missing how things used to be, the community that there was. I miss the BSC LJ group. I miss the RP too.
I second the discord suggestion. It has different "channels" so you can have RP channel to discuss, or fanfic, or even the new Netflix show. I think Instagram is more for pictures and wouldn't really foster conversation and Twitter definitely has limitation with characters.
Those are just my thoughts <3

Of these suggestions, Reddit is the one I know most. It was designed for this type of conversation too. I'm on Twitter all the time, but it doesn't seem like it would work quite as well.

It might be fun, but requires to much attention at certain times, rather than the ability to participate when I have the opportunity.

(Getting an email from this place was definitely a blast from the past. I'm amazed I still remember my password!) I'm going to throw my vote in for a discord server. I haven't participated in one yet, but a lot of fandom activity seems to have gone that way, and I like the idea of separate channels for different topics. AFAIK, all conversations are logged, so it's easy to catch up on anything you've missed, and they can be moderated, which is a plus over platforms like Twitter. I also think that if this forum is still kept as the main base of operations, then a discord is different enough that both places are still likely to be used. It might be easier to make longer, more thoughtful posts about books for a re-read here, and have a discord for more chatty/fast-paced conversations. Reddit is okay, but my issue is that I think it's harder to have sustained conversations there, since posts don't get bumped back up when someone makes a new comment. Also, I know there was a BSC discord advertised on the LJ community at one point, but I'm not sure how much overlap there is between users of this board and people who were active on LJ. Is anyone here a member of it and who might know how well it's working out?

I’m not on Reddit. I like the forum. Im on Facebook, Twitter, & Instagram. Twitter has limited of talking. They do have Twitter longer. I sometimes use it. Instagram is more for uploading pictures. Facebook is good. Cause you can make a page or group, for people to join. (Since not everyone is on Facebook. Be kind hard to do.)

I'd prefer here or Reddit. I'll only participate if I can be anonymous. Apparently I'm a dinosaur because I have no idea what a discord server is.
