Hello! I hope this is the appropriate place to post this question. My friend and I have been looking for a particular BSC book that I remember reading as a kid, but no official list seems to include it. I’m almost certain that it’s a BSC book. I remember that the main plot involved two of the girls (and no, I can’t remember which two) starting a summer day camp. At this point, I believe the BSC has already established themselves as babysitting authorities in Stoneybrook. But, the main conflict arose when a girl and her younger brother (both of whom I vaguely remember may have been in foster care) are enrolled in the camp and the girl has some anti-social/attitude problems. The girl had earned the nickname Kicky because she had kicked other children in the past. I think her full name may have been Katherine or something similar. Does anyone else remember this book? Have I confused a book from another series for a BSC installment? Let me know, and thank you in advance.

Hmm my first thought is Mary Anne and Camp BSC. The plot (subplot?) was about Bobby and Alicia Gianelli joining the BSC Day Camp all the girls run, although the boy is the older and the girl is younger. Bobby doesn't have any problems but Alicia doesn't want to see her mother leave and fights the girls. Then realizing that she's missing out on all the fun. It's one of the instances where the girls run a day camp.
The only book to ever mention a foster kid is Kristy and the Worst Kid ever. Kristy calls Lou (short for Louisa) the worst kid she's sat for because she's been rather uncontrollable sort to speak.
I can do more digging but that's the first two I thought of.

Lou was also in Abby and the Best Kid Ever, but I don't remember the plot to that. I don't remember anyone being called Kicky in any book, lol.

This isn't a BSC book. It was a Scholastic Apple Paperback like the BSC books, though. It's Campy Murphy, the eighth and final book in Colleen O'Shaughnessy McKenna's series about the Murphy family, published in 1993. I've read some of her books, but not this one; I used my librarian powers to find it. (My Google-fu is pretty strong.) There's a community review of Camp Murphy on Goodreads that clearly shows that this is the book. And now I want to read all the Murphy books, of course...

Oh, I have some of those Murphy books. I’ve always put off reading them because I wanted the whole set. ‘Tis the story of my life. I’m pretty sure I have this camp book. I could skim it for any Kicky references, lol.

The community review on Goodreads mentions that there are foster kids called Kicky and Eddie, but it doesn't mention what Kicky's real name is. It would be funny if it wasn't Katherine or anything like that, and it actually didn't have a "K" sound in it or sound like "Kicky" at all.
Ann M. Martin has said that she knew a girl named Marguerite who was nicknamed Cokie, and that's where Cokie's nickname (and real name) came from, although the real-life Cokie wasn't a mean girl. Ann just borrowed her name, not her personality. I wonder how the heck the real-life Cokie got nicknamed Cokie.

Oopsie. Thank you! This was bothering me and my roommate for days. God bless librarians.

I flipped through this. The foster mom introduced her as Kicky. I thought it was a nickname the other kids gave her behind her back. Nope, it’s Kicky. She kicks. Lol. Someone asked her if it was short for Katharine. She said no, but I don’t see anything confirming that or a different name for her.
