I don't remember the cover of this book, but thanks to Karen's Religion I pretty much always imagine Seth to look like Jesus.

The few pictures I've seen of Seth, I didn't think he was good looking. However I prefer my guy to be clean cut so that could be why. This is one of the few LS books I've read and one of the very few times I liked and felt badly for Karen. Having her parents together genuinely seemed to be her only true birthday wish. I know it might have been very awkward and weird, but surely, since as far as we know Watson and Lisa were at least semi-friendly, this didn't have to be as big a deal as was presented. But then we never did find out the reason why they divorced or exactly when that happened so maybe those were factors.

Yeah, I agree. I don't see anything wrong with that being Karen's birthday wish.

Especially since we really don't know how long ago Lisa and Watson got divorced.

Especially since we really don't know how long ago Lisa and Watson got divorced. I think Andrew was two, but i don't remember where I'm getting that from.

I don't understand why the famlies couldn't suck it up and get together for Karen's birthday. Wasn't Lisa and Watson's divorce somewhat friendly? Didn't they say that in the first BSC book?

Lisa and Waston's divorce was supposed to have been friendly, u4me, though I don't remember what book it was mentioned in.

I was thinking it was the first one. I thought it was mentioned when Watson rushed to the hospital when Lisa broke her ankle.

I like Seth a lot, but can't think of him that way on the cover of that book (gorgeous cover by the way!), he looked so much like the dad of my best friend at the time I bought the book and I would show them all the time when I went over and make them all laugh

Did anyone make comparisons to the Berenstein Bears "Santa Bear" when reading about Karen's long list? Sister Bear made a long list of presents for Santa and after Brother told her Santa will think she's greedy and not bring anything, she started to worry....although I know Karen just did this for attention, not cause she really wanted all that.

Awe, I loved the B-stein Bears! I do remember that book! Thanks for bringing back an old memory!
I think Karen looks very pretty on this cover, but she looks older than she normally does.

You're welcome, I had every book in the series at one point too for B-bears, just like with BSC and most of LS up until 1995. Santa Bear was definitely one of the best, loved the illustrations
Karen's Birthday had one of the best covers of the series, with all the birthday stuff and colour schemes, but I used to wonder why no one bought her a new outfit for her birthday, I would always get a new dress for mine to wear for a party.

Yeah I would never get a new outfit for my birthday every year. My birthday is Sept 10, so I would always get back-to-school supplies (Which was annoying because I needed them anyway!)
