Watson definitely tried to force Karen and Elizabeth's relationship sometimes. There was a scene at dinner once where the adults said something like there were no "real" "step" or "adopted" kids in the family. They were all equal. That's nice, but he also seemed to think that was the case with Elizabeth and Lisa. He didn't have his step-kids' bio-dad to deal with. I wonder if he would have felt the same if Patrick was in the picture consistently. Yeah, unless you're in a situation like the Thomas kids where your bio-parent is nowhere to be seen, you're going to have a different relationship with a stepparent than you would with a natural one, and that doesn't have to be a bad thing. It's wrong of Watson, I think, to try and make Elizabeth equal to Lisa in Karen and Andrew's lives, because it's just different. And I think the biological parent is likely to get offended/upset.

I doubt Watson would have been happy if the kids spent Father's Day with Seth instead, so he should have let them spend the actual day of Mother's Day with Lisa. But sometimes he was kind of a jerk (and sometimes Lisa was too) about insisting on sticking to the letter of the custody arrangement instead of being flexible about things like Mother's Day or Thanksgiving. On the topic of Karen's Brothers, I think Karen was a brat. She says that her brothers are "awful, crazy dumbbells with barf-breath" which seems really harsh especially considering that neither Andrew nor David Michael actually did anything to her before she decided never to speak to them again. I wonder what Ricky's parents thought when he came home from the Brother's Day party with a card covered in glitter that said "To my beloved husband" on it.

My little brother used to bring home love notes from girls all the time when he was that age. There was even some girl who would tie his shoes for him all the time. My parents thought it was adorable.

Oh my gosh I can see his parents finding that adorable. I wonder what his parents thought if Ricky told them he was getting married on the playground.

Wouldn't Ricky take one of his mom's lipsticks? I don't think he'd have access to Karen's mother's stuff!
