Author can sound similar to Arthur in a strong New York City accent or a Boston accent, but a lot of people who live in New England have accents that are far more subtle (in that they don't sound too jarringly dissimilar from the variety of American accent I'm used to hearing in the Midwest).
There's a PBS kids program called Arthur (I have no idea if you get it in Australia - it's based on the books) which is well-done and very enjoyable even if you haven't been seven for a good decade or two. Anyway, if you're unfamiliar with the show, each episode contains two storylines and they have a little segment in between where they talk to kids about something related to the topic of the show. When the segment is over, the kids say, "And now, back to Arthur," but it sounds a lot like "Back to Author." For a long time I thought the kids just had poor pronunciation because they were so young, but at one point I discovered that the show was produced in Boston and that the kids' segments are filmed in Boston area schools - thus the "Author" pronunciation.

I like Arthur too. D.W. sort of gets on my nerves, but I think that's because she sort of reminds me of my younger self.

Hannie was being so bratty in this one. Karen and her friends never stop thinking of fun things to do!

I can agree that Nancy staying out of it was the best thing to do. Sometimes they tend to side with each other during fights and it got so annoying! I am glad all went well at the ending.

i found this book in my room today, and i had never read it before. to be honest i didn't hate it as much as i expected to, except the illustrations were really bad. i think it was really sweet that hannie came to karen first thing at school and apologized. her apology was for the right reason, but karen wanted to apologize just so nancy would agree to work on the carnival. but i am a huge karen hater so i will always side against her if i can.
