So if the BSC aged and we still had the books we do have, what books would have fit well in a high school setting? Like Kristy and the Copycat would be a high school, because that was the one that introduced hazing or something like it.
I also feel like Mary Anne + 2 Many Babies would make a lot more sense in a high school series. That's the kind of class that is taught in high school and not in middle school. Umm, anyone got any of the others? Maybe some of the later mystery series books.

I agree with Mary Anne + 2 Many Babies. I love that one, but life-skills class is always taught in 9th grade, so it doesn't really make sense. Baby-Sitters' European Vacation would make more sense for high school because I think Paris and London in two weeks is a crazy school fieldtrip for middle school. (That should have been the vacation the girls won the lottery for, in my opinion.) Also, Kristy + Bart = ?. It's implied that the movie Kristy and Bart go to see is... Not a family film to say the least. Also, it was weird that Kristy and Bart were left alone for so long, plus they had several heavy-duty makeout scenes in that one. Also, Abby mentioning that Kristy and Bart would "Just have to do stuff at his house now", followed by Kristy being super embarrassed. That all seems more like high school level dating to me. Dawn and the Older Boy I think would work better for high school, like if Dawn was a freshman and he was a senior. Stacey's role in Stacey and the Big Crush makes sense for a thirteen year old, but Wes's actions would fit better if she was a high schooler. He didn't act inappropriate or anything, but it's kind of weird that he palled around so much with a kid. The personals ad in the paper for Claudia and the Perfect Boy seems more like a high school thing to do. That plotline also has always made me think of something from SVH, so maybe that's why.
I know there's more I can't think of right now, so I'll be sure to comment again when I do!

I feel like Kristy + Bart = ? would have been decent for a middle school setting if it wasn't as risque as it was written. Claudia and the perfect boy would have been a great high school book.
Stacey McGill, Super Sitter would have been a ton shorter because Stacey would have told off Mrs. Cheplin that a high school student doesn't have as much time either.

Exactly! Like it still could have showed that Bart was ready for a relationship and Kristy wasn't without them making out every ten minutes. Haha
Yeah, I could see that one definitely. Stacey's Lie also seems more like a plotline for high schoolers rather than middle schoolers, too. Also Stacey and the Bad Girls seems more like high school. Actually, a lot of Stacey's books do.
Also, Jessi being the mall Santa in Here Come the Bridesmaids seems a lot like a high school storyline. Who would hire an eleven year old to play Santa for a bunch of kids, some that are probably only a year younger than her.

For some reason, most Claudia, Stacey and Dawn books can easily be set on high school, as well as Kristy for President and Mary Anne's Makeover.

I agree! Mary Anne's Makeover seems a lot like something that would happen in freshman year.

I guess not any specific book, but any of their big school dance moments could have been turned into a Prom or Homecoming book. Actually a few books could have been combined to make a super special with float building, Logan/football game, school spirit week, king/queen court, etc.

I agree! Mary Anne's Makeover seems a lot like something that would happen in freshman year. So true...ditto The Secret Life of Mary Anne Spier and Claudia's Big Party. Oh, the potential high school stories would have had. 😄😄😄 I think that's why I wrote my own stories of the BSC in high school titled The BSC Legacy. It's in four books, one for each year of high school...I have to revise the stories.

Stacey and the Bad Girls, where Stacey's friends shoplift and then drink at the concert. And I agree about European Vacation - what middle school is letting 8th graders go to Europe?

Stacey and the Bad Girls, where Stacey's friends shoplift and then drink at the concert. Agreed there. I wish the BSC books had allowed the girls to age beyond eighth grade/middle school. The high school years would have made a great coming-of-age feminist legacy.

And I would have definitely had them visit Germany and Italy. Paris is far too overrated and overused in too many books.

Granted, it's a US state but it's still clear across the country. Perhaps the California Diaries. They were already moved to a high school building in Dawn Diary 1. Also, maybe the Friends Forever. They were babysitting less and the fight between Claudia and Stacey seems like it could fit a high school setting.

Too bad they couldn’t make the eighth grade at the high school like dawns school did.

How about when they visited Hawaii? Granted, it's a US state but it's still clear across the country. Still overused and cliched unless they visited Pearl Harbor. I haven't read that particular book yet...Germany and Italy are far better. A summer in Puerto Rico, Argentina or the Philippines would have been better also. Perhaps the California Diaries. They were already moved to a high school building in Dawn Diary 1. That was intriguing...they should have just had Dawn and company move into ninth grade, not have just another year in eighth grade with them in the high school building. They were babysitting less and the fight between Claudia and Stacey seems like it could fit a high school setting. That entire Stacey/Claudia fight was so ludicrous that it belonged either in a Sweet Valley or Fabulous Five book or a third-grade book. And over a boy? I think that ghost writer was drunk or stoned when she wrote those books. 😩😩😩 The Dawn/Sunny fight in the Cali Diaries was much more real and more typical of most teens. I actually see the Stoneybrook BSC gaining a few more BSC members in high school since they'd be meeting a lot of new classmates and would be busier with other extracarricular activities. More alternate and associate members would fill in and the original BSC would then train the next generation of the BSC to gradually take over. This would make a far richer and more realistic storyline than a silly, immature, dragged-out fight over a boyfriend. The BSC is far too sophisticated for childish, petty "catfights" over boys...their legacy is far beyond that sort of triteness. Ann meant for the BSC to be a feminist coming-of-age epic. Too bad they couldn't make the eighth grade at the high school like Dawn's school did. I'm glad Stoneybrook didn't do that...no, let them grow up and start ninth grade for real...take them through four years of high school. I'm glad the Harry Potter series allowed the characters to grow up and reach adulthood after they defeated Voldemort.
