I know everyone on here keeps referring to Hannie as pudgy and chubby but I've always pictured her as almost slim. I don't ever look at illustrations or covers, though. Is she shown there as chubby (that's never caught my attention) or described like that or is it just that everyone else has a different mental image of Hannie? I don't think it was ever brought up in the LS books, but I do remember some type of reference to Hannie being a little "doughy" (not that this was the exact word that was used though) in one of the BSC books. No idea which one it was though.

I think it was Mallory and the Trouble with Twins? The book where Hannie gets the same dress that Kristy and Karen both have -- Hannie and Karen both wear their dresses and ask Kristy if they look like twins, and Kristy is amused, because Karen is blonde and skinny, and Hannie is dark-haired and pudgy.
The Wikipedia entry for the BSC says Hannie's full name is Hannah, which I never knew before.

^ You're probably right, lila. I think I remember that, too. In the illustrations, though, (I looked this morning ;D) Karen actually looks bigger than Hannie. I think this is another example of how readers can picture the characters differently. The beauty of reading vs. watching ;D I tend to picture Hannie being slim but that is actually how I tend to picture most of the kids because I was. I think I tend to perceive the characters as having some of my traits. I really like Hannie's whole family, too, especially her dad. He seems like a nice, outgoing guy while Nancy's family seems much more reserved. I like them okay too, though. And I think Hannie is a cute nickname - one that I had never thought of - for Hannah. ;D

I don't necessarily think of Hannie as chubby in a bad way... I think of her as little kid adorable pudgy. I guess I'm not sure why. I've just always had that impression. I agree with liking their whole family, they seem super down to earth and their parents are probably really cool, the kids aren't stuck up or anything.

I always thought of Hannie the same way too, not bad chubby but cute little kid chubby. Although she never really comes off like that in the illustrations.

The LS illustrations do kind of...suck, though, WRT bodies.

While reading LS, I always thought that Hannie was a total brat. First there was that whole incident in Karen's Haircut, then there was that whole rivalry thing she had with Amanda Delaney (which I never understood because they were only seven and at that age I don't know what anyone could do that is grudge-holding worthy) and she blew off both Karen and Nancy at times to hang out with other people (she blew off Karen in the Three Musketeers SS and Nancy in the SS where they go to Camp Mohawk). However, despite all that I actually liked Hannie a tad bit better than Nancy and I have no clue why. I think it was because I enjoyed reading about her, especially in the Super Specials. Nancy was shy and reserved and Karen was loud and outgoing but Hannie was in the middle kind of. Not too shy and not too outgoing, but instead she was her own person. Plus I always thought Hannie was a cute name (a lot better than Hannah) and I liked how she looked on every LS cover.

^ I didn't even realize before this book that Hannah was a palindrome (and didn't have any idea what the word even meant). The LS books can be educational for me, even as an adult. ;D

I LOVE Hannie, I think she sounds so adorable!! I always picture her as having a little baby fat on her, not necessarily "chubby" though. I love how she is always in pigtails.. so cute. I also like how she is so down to earth even though her family has a lot of money. She did bug me with the Amanda Delaney rivalry sometimes, though.

I love her pigtails too! Her whole family seems pretty cool, I also like how down to earth they are. I gave my niece my copy of Karen's Tea Party this weekend and she looked at the cover and was like "oooh Hannie! I love Hannie! Her name is sooo pretty, if I have a little girl I am naming her Hannie" hehe, it was cute

I think the pictures of Hannie are really cute in the LS books. She doesn't look all that chubby to me but it's just how someone perceives her. I think she's a pretty smart, talented little girl. I like her in most of the books and do think her name is cute, too ;D

I loved Hannie's pigtails! I went through this phase for awhile in second grade where I would only wear my hair in pigtails, just so I could look like Hannie lol.
