The "horrible, horrible person" part made me laugh because it was sorta...unnecessary. I mean, Karen's a little kid and has not committed all THAT many atrocities in her lifetime

I think this whole entry was really mean (of course, I do love Karen, anyway, and always want to defend her. ;D) not to mention stupid of someone to waste so much time being mean for a "joke." Aren't jokes supposed to be funny? People seem to think that constant snarking is but I don't agree.

"At times Karen can be bossy and a bit of a know-it-all, particularly when she is in charge. She has an overactive imagination (something which notoriously landed her into trouble in the earlier books) and often has a hard time remembering to use her "indoor voice," especially in school." I don't think that's really very mean, but that's just me Definitely people have said much worse stuff about her on Tiff's blog or LJ.

^i think the wikipedia entry has been changed to reflect a more neutral view of Karen. before it said she was a "horrible, horrible person."
i agree aln--snarking does not equal humor to me either. i don't mind when people say things about the COVERS, but i find things like tiff's blog not funny at all. i don't think it's written for real FANS of the bsc though--just people who read the series a long time ago.

Glad you agree and also don't find the blog funny. The entry I was talking about was the "horrible, horrible person" one. That is just mean, in my opinion, even if I didn't care for the character.

I find the wikipedia entry amusing, because I always find people getting all uptight about wiki entries amusing. people take wikipedia so seriously, and ... i don't know. It's just something my classmates and I were usually making fun of at university. Maybe because anyone can edit it. Maybe because I know of several entries that are 90% fiction.
I also find it slightly amusing that someone took the time to bother screwing around with a baby-sitter's club entry too. Also, horrible, horrible person.. she's fictional! And it's clear she's really not, because she's a 7 year old character. It's not like she's Darth Vader (only villain I could think of off hand!). But mostly, I think it's kind of dumb. If you are going to vandalize a wiki page, at least do something creative.
I'm not saying that you guys are wrong for being upset about it. I'm sure someone worked hard on that page, and it sucks when it gets deleted by someone trolling around. I just think it's kind of funny that anyone would take the time to do something so ... pointless.
I like Tiff's blog, but sometimes I"m like "oh (sad face) I liked that part!". But it's nice to see that someone else has noticed some of the things I noticed, even when I was 8 or so. I don't like it when it gets to be too much, or when it crosses the line from funny comments about inconsistency or claudia's outfits/the stereotypes to just general hatred for the series.

i think she just curses so much that it makes what she writes seem crass.

^i think the wikipedia entry has been changed to reflect a more neutral view of Karen. before it said she was a "horrible, horrible person." You're right, I checked the link karenthebrat posted, and it's been changed and no longer says h.h.p. But I hadn't read this thread til now and was just referring to that phrase in my first post before noticing that it's actually gone... I think Tiff is just keeping up with her readers who go kinda crazy when she doesn't update for a long time. I dunno, I find the comments people leave pretty mean-spirited and don't read many of them, but I do read her stuff. And I'm having deja vu...I think we had a thread discussing her blog awhile back. Anyway...I'm sure some people don't mind all her swearing in the slightest, while it can be bothersome for others. I'm somewhere in the middle.

I think the writer took the joke way too far. I am in the minority and actually like Karen so I personally feel that was harsh.

^ i read it cause some of it's interesting, and some of it i'ev thought before, but the cursing does get annoying. I snark sometimes on the BSC, and sometimes feel like posting about a book that i find particularly snarky, but i haven't... (never got around to it), but sometimes i do feel slightly defensive when someone snarks on a character or something that i really liked. I dont think i could really snark on an entire book for very long (except maybe mallory pike #1 fan), just bits and pieces, but I think Tiff takes it to the extreme at times. Maybe it's because of her cursing all the time.

^ She just seems way too negative to me, but that's just me. I know some people like that kind of thing. I try (sometimes fail but do try ;D) to keep a postive perspective on the BSC, especially since the books have helped me form more of that kind of outlook on life. ;D

I read Tiff's blog every now and then because its about the Babysitters Club and well... its about the Babysitters Club. But there is a huge difference between a joking snark (like Jessi being black or Mallory and her sparkly T-Shirt) and a full out b*tch-snark. Most of what is written is so nasty about the series I doubt Tiff likes the BSC all very much at all. Or maybe she tries too hard to be funny. Whatever. My point is that nasty is not funny to people who actually like the thing your being nasty about.
