Ah procrastination... Something I am so familiar with Wow!! Tiffany has given up her snark blog. Well, there will be no more posts, I dunno if she is keeping the site up.

I know, I read that and all I have to say is thank God. Some of Tiff's posts were hilarious, but lately she just got way too mean and bashy with her book recaps. It's for the best if she doesn't update it for awhile.

On the whole I enjoyed the blog, I really did. But things got so angry towards the end there. You can snark on the BSC without calling them bitches all the time.

^I love the LJ community bsc_snark. It's like Tiff's blogs but without the nastiness.

Oh, I love bsc_snark! I even wrote one myself (well, the first three chapters ... haven't updated in a while) but my snark is not so good because I feel too bad to say much, lol. I liked Tiff's blog, too, but I agree that she was very nasty towards them!

The coarse vocabulary isn't necessary to be funny.

I don't think coarse vocabularly is funny--it's lazy. I try to keep it to a minimum on my blog, although I unfortunately curse a fair amount in real life (a habit that's hard to break).

Unimaginative, too. I remember reading something where Churchill, (I think it was Churchill) wanting to insult someone, said "he's a modest man, with much to be modest about"...now that's imaginative!

I liked reading Tiff's blog when I first found out about it but all the f-bombs quickly turned me off.

I also curse a fair amount in real life, and I also keep it to a minimum in blog entries (I don't have a BSC blog -- yet -- but I have other blogs). On the whole, I liked Tiff's blog, but when it started getting meaner and less funny, I wasn't nearly as interested anymore. I know the BSC are fictional characters and it doesn't hurt their feelings, but it just isn't entertaining to read "f*** those bitches" all the time.
I don't mind "coarse vocabulary" in general, but when it's overused, I agree with Greer that it's just lazy. Those words don't mean anything anymore when you use them over and over again, and where's the fun in that?

OF course, any word can become meaningless if it's used ad nauseam!

I know the BSC are fictional characters and it doesn't hurt their feelings, but it just isn't entertaining to read "f*** those bitches" all the time. I know! In the end, it's not really entertaining, it just makes me think, dang, calm down. And generally I don't mind vulgarity either, when it's used in moderation.

I have to disagree, booboo. I find it unbecoming in anyone. Think about *The Princess Bride*. The one instance of profanity in that movie is so effective precisely because it's the only one there.
