Okay, so Karen's exaggerating was so me when I was little. I never hurt myself, but if I did, I would have exaggerated! Haha, I love Mrs P drawing Midnight

^ I thought it was cute when Morbidda drew Midnight, too. ;D A little girl I know just broke her arm (and had a pink cast - Karen would have been jealous. I know I was since I had to have boring white when I broke my arm at five. ;D) and I thought of this book as I signed her cast. Maybe I should have drawn a picture. As it was, I couldn't think of anything clever or cute to write.

This was the first LS book I ever read, my favorite memory of 2nd grade where an obsession was born . I remember some random kid in my 2nd grade class giving me this book to read out of my classroom library (because I was just standing there and looking at the books lol) and telling me to read it. I was drawn in by the first page. The part where Watson and Kristy take Karen to the hospital after she breaks her wrist was such an exciting and fast-paced scene (I've never broken a bone *knock on wood* so it was fascinating to read about it). I also remember finding it weird that Karen was still on roller skates in 2nd grade when I was already in in-line skates but then again it was at a different time. I thought it was funny when Karen askes Mr. Tastee (the ice-cream man) to sign her cast and he signs his real name, Roger Jones (or something like that) and she's like, "No Mr. Tastee?" and then she makes him sign "Mr. Tastee" under his real name so that people would know who he was lol.

^ I had forgotten about Mr. Tastee. ;D I haven't read this one for a while and guess I need to. As for thinking it was weird that Karen was still on rollerskates, I didn't get my first rollerblades until I was 11 so I didn't really consider 7 very old (of course I read this book for the first time last year, too. ;D)

This is one of my favorite LS books. I loved all the things people were writing on her cast. I thought they were really cute.

I've never been on rollerblades. I think I'd break my neck if I could even stand up. I used to love rollerskating though.

I also remember finding it weird that Karen was still on roller skates in 2nd grade when I was already in in-line skates but then again it was at a different time. Still on roller skates? Did you guys start out on roller skates and then graduate to rollerblades or something? I just thought she was on roller skates 'cause it was 1988 or something. I've tried to roller skate and I can't, but rollerblading is easy.

It took me about a day to learn how to rollerblade, that came much easier to me than roller skating, which I did first. Our local roller skating rink also used to have these things called "turtles" which were just little scooters that you were supposed to use to learn how to skate. My kindergarten class went there for a field trip and I tried them out even though I already knew how to skate on roller skates and I seriously don't understand how they're supposed to help you learn to skate because you're just sitting on your butt and scooting slowly around the rink. Maybe it's to get you used to the motion sitting down before you try to stand up and skate, idk. Btw, sorry if that went on a bit .

^ Never heard of the turtles but that reminded me of how I used to use ski poles to propel myself on my roller skates. Not sure why anymore ;D Maybe it made it more "interesting" since the only pavement I really had to use was like 30 ft of sidewalk. ;D

I used roller skates before I used roller blades. Last year though I tried going back on Roller skates and it seemed so much harder! To me I guess Roller blading is easier for some reason.

I never roller anything. No skating, no blading. I forgot that Mr Tastee bit too!

This was the first and last LS book I ever read -- my mom bought it for me at a book fair in 2nd grade, and after my dad asked "are you sure you can handle this book?" (Ohh the memories -- it was my first chapter book!) -- anyway, I read it, loved it, and discovered the BSC in 3rd grade and was more interested in reading about middle school drama than whatever was going on in Karen's life. I loved in the beginning how Karen explained how she lived in 2 houses, and how she ripped her blanket in half and had 2 stuffed animals. It was cute!

^ I always totally skip the chapter 2s in the LS books because they seem more repetitive than the BSC ones. ;D I love Karen, though. ;D

Chapter 2 in LS is way more repetitive than the chapter 2 in BSC. I swear that ANM or her ghostwriter just copied and pasted it in every book because it was exactly the same each time. The only minor difference was what animal she would call Goldfishie (i.e. "And then there's Goldfishie, Andrew's hippopotamus, just kidding!"). It was funny for the first few books but then it just got annoying after awhile.
