^ Yeah that's what I picture the Papakis house. Bigger house/small mansion. Not too fancy. Like one of those new model homes.

^ From the glimpses we do get to their house (like on the cover of Kristy and the Worst Kid Ever or Welcome to the BSC, Abby) their home doesn't seem extremely opulent.

They could have been McMansions built in between the more historic, genuine mansions like Watson's.

I forgot that this book is the introduction of Pat the Cat. Look at Karen sitting all smugly with with I assume is Moosie and Goosie (but I thought they were cats, not bears?) She looks like she's thinking, "That's right, beech. I have 2 of everything." Karen mentions how Hannie's house is almost as big as Watson's. For real? I always thought the Papadakis house was more humble, in size and in style. Not that they weren't wealthy. It was just that their house wasn't as glamorized as much as Watson's or the Delaney/Kormans. I thought the Papadakises and the Kilbourne house were just really ritzy houses, "small" mansions or "bigger than average" homes. LMAO perfect caption, I can see the picture in my head now!

I love in this one where Nancy says they aren't best friends anymore, and Karen is about to cry and says, "Forever?" and Nancy says, "No, just until Monday." That's so funny.
I just read this one and noticed that Karen said her smorgasboard lunch is always an apple, a celery stick with peanut butter, some potato chips, and milk. What the hell kind of lunch is that? If I were there, I'd probably have the apple, potato chips, and milk, because I love all of those things (but carrot sticks instead of celery because I hate celery), but that really isn't a full lunch. I'd also make a sandwich with the cheese and cold cuts or with peanut butter and jelly.

Not only that, but she made such a big deal about how fun Saturday lunches were because they were allowed to eat anything they wanted. Then she picked a bunch of stuff that I'm sure she could have as an after school snack every day of the week.

Also, I never thought the smorgasbord was that exciting. Is it just because they got to pick what they ate whereas other times they were told what to eat? That's the only way I can see it being fun. I would have preferred to go out for lunches on Saturday.

I've always thought that sounded like such a crappy lunch. No sandwich? And that small amount of food isn't going to keep a kid full for very long, just based on all the time I've spent with my sister's kids. If any of them ate that for lunch they'd be saying they were hungry again an hour later. I always remember Karen stating about her lunch "That is a very wonderful meal." Um, not really.

Okay this "smorgasbord lunch" looks a lot like what I feed the kids I baby-sit for lunch, except I generally go with crackers instead of chips. To break it down there are:
95 calories in a medium sized apple 188 calories in 2 tbsp peanut butter Basically no calories in celery 155 calories in one ounce of chips 102 calories in one 8 oz glass of 1% milk
That adds up to a 540 calorie lunch.
A turkey sandwich with mayo and cheddar cheese would add 395 calories, making it a 935 calorie lunch. Which is 78% of the DAILY recommended calorie intake for a 7 year old girl, which is 1200 calories. Without the sandwich it is a staggering 45%, for what most people consider a tiny lunch.

I thought, she will pick something different, not something she will eat every week.

When, they show the picture of the cats. Boo boo, doesn't look fat to me. Every time, Karen or the babysitters said Boo Boo is a fat cat. Looking at the picture of the girls & the cats, Boo Boo looks like normal weight cat. Not fat cat.

It does seem odd that she always picks the same thing.

I always liked Karen's lunch aside from the fact that it seemed to be missing a sandwich...lol
But yeah, I did always like a simple lunch of sandwich, chips, fruit or veggies, chocolate milk or lemonade, etc.
