^ How about in Karen's Sleepover when her, Hannie & Nancy write the pact and signed it and each of their handwriting looks like different versions of Kristy's (and like a 13-year-old did it). They were really inconsistent with Karen's spelling ability and printing. Anyway, this book reminds me that I'm seriously overdue for another pair of glasses. The last ones I got were in 2002!!!!!!!!!!!!! Luckily, I'm near-sighted and would really only need the glasses while driving (which I don't). Funny how Ricky and Karen are kind of like Mallory and Ben (the couple with glasses). Karma really hit Ricky in the "eye" (pun...kind of!) after teasing Karen about her glasses, since he had to get them too. And back to the kindergarten writing in Karen's Kittens, inconsistency alright.

I wanted to give Karen a hug in this book. When she promised herself on page 68 that no matter how mean Ricky was to her (about her glasses) she wouldn't make him feel worse about his own glasses, that was so sweet. It reminded me of one of my favorite Krushers moments when Myriah, Gabbie, and Jamie are walking home after some of the Bashers had been nasty to some of their team-mates and the three of them promise the same thing Karen did but in general--not being mean back. ETA: Did anyone else think the kids in Ms. Colman's class looked much younger on this cover than they do in the picture in the KIMCC books? I also wanted to add in, albeit late, I am also sorry for anyone who was teased for wearing glasses. Any sort of teasing is just plain awful but for something you truly can't help...that makes it all the worse. I needed glasses (distance) probably a couple years before I got them, too. I do have the good memory of getting a pink pair in 10th grade and the boy I liked, wearing them every once in a while so he could see better in our biology class. That was just so cool to me, especially because I was not among the "cool" crowd and this person was. I never much cared about that but there were times when being acknowledged by a member sure felt nice.

I thought it was brave of her to wear them, and two at the same time mind you, despite the teasing. It gave me confidence to wear mine all the time, though now I wish I took them off for pictures cause they were bigger than my face in the early 90's and I ruined a lot of good shots cause I was photogenic up until then.

We were talking about those enormous glasses of the 80s just recently...when my uncle found his pair in their attic. I knew they never got rid of anything....

Looking at old pictures of myself with glasses back in the 80's. They are big. I'm glad they decide make glasses smaller.

I wish I had kept my first pair of glasses. I don't even remember what they looked like. I have all the others. Actually the ones I had in high school are smaller than the ones I wear now.

I still have and use my first pair from 10 years ago. They're black framed Ralph Lauren but they kind of sound nicer than they actually are Maybe it's just because I've had them for so long and am bored of them.

I read this tonight because of all the eye stuff going on with my dad recently. I have realized that the time has come for me to get new glasses, too! I have two pairs of Rx glasses, one regular and the other sun that I wear for driving. While I don’t wear the regular as often, thanks to the CA sun being out most of the time, when I do need them they are just awful. As Karen might say Boo and Bullfrogs to how they just don’t fit me properly and lol aren’t even as blue as I thought they were in the store. So, I will probably be sharing about new frames soon. Onto this book, I still do feel so badly for Karen in this book. She comes across as a young 6 and is obviously experiencing a lot of eye pain for a good portion of her school day. And then when she had trouble pouring the milk and reading, I could empathize and wanted to offer her a hug. My very favorite part of this story is when Kristy and Charlie take Karen to the library and look at books, even Winnie the Pooh! (Owl), that have characters kids love who wear glasses. I thought that was so very sweet. I just loved when Karen tried her glasses out on Goosie and some of other stuffed friends and dolls. I could see my kid -self doing that too. As a P.S. of sorts on page 13 David Michael is 8!

I don't remember, what my first pair of glasses looks like, either. I think they were plastic light brown color.

I remember I always wanted glasses when I was little. I never faked an eye exam like Mary Anne did but I used to LOVE going to the store and trying on the glasses. Ah...the memories.

I couldn't fake wearing glasses. I start wearing them, when I was 6 years old.
