I couldn't fake wearing glasses. I start wearing them, when I was 6 years old. Yeah, I was three. Didn't even have a chance to think about it!

I started wearing glasses in second grade like Karen actually. Mine were blue.

I still do feel so badly for Karen in this book. She comes across as a young 6 and is obviously experiencing a lot of eye pain for a good portion of her school day. And then when she had trouble pouring the milk and reading, I could empathize and wanted to offer her a hug. My very favorite part of this story is when Kristy and Charlie take Karen to the library and look at books, even Winnie the Pooh! (Owl), that have characters kids love who wear glasses. I thought that was so very sweet. I agree she does seem like a young 6 in this book, and I felt bad for her too. In the regular BSC books she comes across as so shrill and obnoxious sometimes, but in her own series, she just comes across as a regular little girl. I'm also a fan of the library scene. Good idea that Kristy had. Nowadays Harry Potter would be another glasses-wearing book character to add to the list.

^ I totally forgot about the library scene. There goes one of Kristy's great ideas. It was a smart (and not to mention really sweet and cute) thing to do. I also thought it was sweet when Karen told Ricky about their favorite characters who wore glasses. I am a huge fan of Karen and Ricky's relationship. I totally LOLed when Karen wrote about mean things to do to Ricky. It seems so typical 6 year old (and, really, any age from 6 to even college-age).

^Candykane, I like how you phrased that about in the LS series Karen being "a regular little girl." We get to know Karen, see her as a genuine and fuller person in the LS stories. I now have read all the LS books and have come to relate to and often very much sympathize with Karen. I also really like Andrew and am glad to have gotten to know him better, too. I just finished reading "Karen's Treasure" and it is so cute and clever how Andrew creates scrambles of his name for himself to unscramble while Kristy and Karen are working on the word jumble clues to the treasure. I'll have to read a BSC story that she's more a part of. It might be interesting to see if my perceptions of Karen in a BSC scene might have changed now. I think lol the only book off the top of my head I'll never care for her (or most any of the characters in) is Camp BSC. But I don't think I'm alone in that.

Yeah it was cute how she was trying to educate Ricky I think I felt it was a victory when Ricky got glasses right after laughing so hard at her, my first introduction to karma hahaha I loved the part with the list too, and the spitball and the library. Another good example of someone with big glasses would have been Steve Urkel though I don't think the show had started yet, or was relatively new.

^ Family Matters was first aired in September 1989. Karen's School Picture was published in September 1989. So Family Matters was BRAND-new.
If this book was published in 1990 or 1991, they could have mentioned Stephanie Tanner's glasses in Full House.

^ That reminds me of the crossover Full House episode where Stephanie got glasses and Urkel gave her tips to deal with teasing.

Yeah I think that's why I thought of Urkel too, his appearance in the Stephanie episode and how he was telling her it's ok I remember when I first saw it in the early 90's, it reminded me of Karen's School Picture

Did anyone figure out who's who, on the front cover of Karen's School Pictures? I know some of them, but the rest of the kids, I'm not sure, who's who?

^The first row is easier for me to decipher than the second. I think the first row of kids are: Ricky, Karen, Nancy, Hannie, Omar, Ian, and Natalie. Ian, I am guessing from the class picture in the KIMCC books. I am comparing the picture to the one in KIMCC book and am starting over. I just realized there are 16 kids pictured on this cover and 16 kids pictured in "Teacher's Pet." Addie and Pamela are missing. I had thought Pamela was Leslie on the LS cover. There are 10 girls and 6 boys pictured in both books. Boys=Ricky, Omar, Ian (first row) I have no clue if the child wearing red or yellow is supposed to be Bobby. I think Hank and Chris are standing next to Ms. Colman in the second row. 10 girls are Karen, Nancy, Hannie, Natalie, Jannie, Sara, Audrey, Terri, Leslie, and Tammy. First row: Ricky, Karen, Nancy, Hannie, Omar, Ian, and Natalie (7 children) Back row: Jannie (I only knew this from having just looked at the KIMCC picture, person in red, Sara, person in yellow, maybe person in blue is Tammy, Leslie (not Pamela), Terri (or Tammy), Hank, and Chris. (Missing Audrey which means she probably is the child in yellow and Bobby is in red but not sure at all on this). KIMCC: Karen's School Picture: I'm not finding a large enough Google image of the cover. It is interesting how some of the children appear differently on both pictures. IMO, Ricky for example without glasses (KIMCC) looks a little older than he does on the LS cover. Nancy (LS) doesn't look as much like Nancy in KIMMC, who I think of as lol looking more like Nancy though IIRC she was wearing in the story the outfit shown on the LS cover which is cool I think part of it is the LS cover the kids are further book, not as up close (to us) and more bunched together than in the KIMCC illustration. I think the LS picture might be more realistic and the KIMCC is a bit more polished if that makes sense. Of course with the KIMCC it helps that the names are all listed for us.

Most of the KIMCC books take place earlier in the LS series, despite being published years afterward.

Wow. Karen looks different in KIMCC. I haven't read any of those books yet. They look like good books to read.
