Some of the books changed character names when translated. Do you prefer Claudia or would you have liked one of the other choices?

I looked up how to pronounce Joke in Dutch and I discovered that the letter j is pronounced at the letter y. It honestly reminded me of how the letter j is also pronounced as a y in Russian. I have to admit that a part of me is disappointed that Claudia got renamed as Valerie in the Finnish version instead of Mallory getting renamed that in any of the translations. After all, she was called Valerie in Don't Give Up, Mallory.

I like the name Claudia. She doesn't look like a Julie or a Valerie. Klaudie looks like a bad Kardashian name. Joke's not cool just because I think it would be cruel to call your kid a Joke in English.

^ Besides how many people would know how to pronounce the name Joke in Dutch instead of English. I can only imagine the teasing she'd go through with that name.

I do like Julie quite a bit, it's somehow vaguely similar in itself and in effect to Claudia despite also being pretty different, it also does sound a bit more like sister for Janine. Both sound kind of artistic or potential for artistic, a little cooler which Claudia sometimes was and sometimes wasn't. Like both and I would go with tie between them except Julie sounds a little too similar to Kristy (and Stacey) so Claudia narrowly wins.

Sisters named Julie and Janine would confuse everybody, haha.
I don't personally love the name Claudia. I had a neighbor with that name, this old-fashioned country mom who wore a lot of paisley. Klaudie is kind of cute, like the nickname Eleanor Marshall gives her, but it does just sound like a kid who can't say the whole name. I would have liked a traditional Japanese name for her more than anything else.
According to wikipedia, most notable Claudias are German.
