Yes but Karen embarassed everyone else, right? And she ganged up on everyone, too... so the punishment is quite fitting, IMO.

One person can't "gang up" on other people. She's seven, and her parents organized a team of people to take her down. That's what bothered me.

I thought what they did WAS more effective because they did exactly what she did--quietly gathered the evidence, then presented it. Plus it was only in front of the little house family, the embarrassment would have been greater at Watson's. Karen got a taste of her own medicine, period.

True. I can see what you mean by one person cannot gang up on other people (especially a seven year old) but I still agree that it was an effective and creative parenting idea, haha.

Maybe ambushed would be a more accurate word for what Karen did to everyone else.

Yeah! Maybe it was just not an accurate use of the word.

Karen crack me up, this book. After the new year party. Spying her family & friends each wrong or forgetful thing they did. She goes back to her room, writes it down. Sometimes in big cap letters. I thought, it was silly to give revolution to the animals. That tick me off. They we're just animals. They don't understand revolution at all.
I'm glad, the library, I'm volunteer working at. Has BSC & LS books to let me borrow. So, I can read them.

I was watching The View today and it reminded me of this book. In Hot Topics, the ladies were talking about a story involving a young girl who got punished over Facebook by her parents, who made a Facebook page showing a picture of her with tape over her mouth saying, "Ask me why I got in trouble." Apparently the parents were shaming the girl because she did something similar to them (and this was her punishment).
Anyway, it reminded me of how Karen's family spied on her to get back at her for doing it to them.

I read this book last night right before bed. I know I'm in the minority here but I actually liked Karen's "punishment" for spying on everyone. Granted, she *didn't* know what a New Year's Resolution was and so I can see her taking it really seriously. No one really mentioned to her the basics of it, but then again, they probably didn't think much of it.
Andrew cried in like every other chapter in this book. I usually like him and I know he's a big crier ... but still! Ann made him a super baby in this one.

Yeah I liked the punishment too, but thought her family was really mean at the time and didn't like them. She was just so tacky at the table saying that stuff about Emily and especially Nanny though. I really think she should have gotten a good grounding.

Virgo, how crude of the parents putting tape over her mouth. Showing it on facebook. Is their article about this?

I thought of this one the other day. At least I think it happened in this one. They opened their front door at midnight so that they could hear all their neighbors celebrating the new year. Just how loudly were these people partying? And then they all shut up at 12:05 AM and went to bed? Lol.
