Karen tends to be a little pushy when she doesn't get her way. I did like the Karen's Snow Princess and how she and Natalie became close.

I liked that Karen was helping Natalie, even though at the same time, she was being pushy. I liked that Karen and Natalie became closer as friends.

Yes, Karen was pushy. I like, Natalie become snow princess. So funny, Karen wearing those bright colors to get notices. She sure did.

Snow Princess. Pizza Queen. How many contests can there be in Stoneybrook for kids around Karen's age? Side-note: it was kind of neat to see Bill Korman illustrated (he's the boy on the float with Natalie). I thought it was funny how Karen was sooo excited to, like, flip a switch. Also, ALL of Stoneybrook being completely lit up with lights? Pretty but what a waste of electricity!

^ LOL. Yeah, that cracks me up. Karen was so excited to switch the light, in town.
Well, I reread this book, since I own this book, now. Last time, I rented at the library. I read it fast.
I like this book. Cause, Karen help with Natalie. Is their any others books Karen spend time with Natalie?

I re-read this book last night to cool off. The last few days have been like summer here. Today, it is much cooler so lol maybe the book "worked." I did think Karen was a bit forceful at first but I love that she seemed to truly want to help Natalie. I enjoyed reading about their afternoon at the Springers because it is so rare Karen hangs out with anyone outside of Hannie and Nancy. Wow, as I typed that I realized, I don't even think Hannie or Nancy or much mentioned in this book outside of chapter 2--it's mostly Karen and Natalie and also Karen and the Seth situation. Speaking of Seth, I apologize if I have asked this before but did we ever find out what exactly he did in Chicago for 6 months? I understand he was most likely contracted to help with a major project and possibly whoever (individual or business) paid for his relocation expenses. I am a big Seth fan and a few specifics might have been interesting. I did love when Andrew and Karen were having a snack and Seth walked in the door and they (A and K) jumped up and gave him a hug. Seth is a good person and I'm glad he is a part of the Little House family.

I read this one recently and I thought that it was really sweet that Karen was able to help Natalie. I love that the judges liked Natalie's speech over Karen's too. Karen was even a little offended by that too lol.
Plus that scene where Seth drove her and Natalie around town to see what they could write about was really sweet. I wish that we got to see more of Seth in the LS books.

I was kinda shocked that Karen didn’t want to go for the Snow Princess gig. Neither job was a guarantee, but she could have competed for Snow Princess and then tried for light switcher if that didn’t work out. The contest was kind of iffy. They had to write 200 words on how to improve Stoneybrook. That’s not many words on how to improve a whole town. Then they had to give a 5-minute speech about the winter carnival. Five minutes can feel like a lifetime. Then, finally, they had to write a 500-word piece about what they promised to do as Snow Royalty.
I liked how Karen had no interest in being the kindergarten assistant. She was basically like “If I want to help a little person I’ll find my brother. Thanks anyway. Peace out.”
Natalie actually gave a very good speech! She said that people get lonely in the winters because the weather keeps them inside. The festival would bring them together to help the fire department. The fire department was there for them, so they had to be there for the fire department. “It is cold outside, but we will stay warm together.” Aw.
Karen’s tip list to Natalie: get 8 hours of sleep each night, clean her glasses so that they sparkled, and smile a lot.
Things wrong with Stoneybrook: a crooked stop sign, a broken window at the post office (?? fix that!), a tree was knocked down in a storm from 3 weeks ago (?? clean that up!), and overflowing garbage cans in the town square.
Who gave Karen the tacky light-up trucker hat for Christmas? 😀
