I just read Karen's School Trip. There were a couple of interesting things which I noticed:
-Karen's school librarian is named Mr. Counts. Mr. Counts also happens to be the name of the librarian at SMS.
-The trip is to the Bedford Zoo, where the sitters did their work in Zoo Mystery. However, it is mentioned that Bedford Zoo is an hour away. It seemed much closer in Zoo Mystery.
-Karen talks so much in class, it seems like she's the only one at school. Maybe this is just due to the plague though.
-Karen gets so excited that Ricky goes home with a high fever that she calls Kristy. Hahahaha.
-So many references to Ann's obsessions! Karen KNOWS that I Love Lucy will come on in one hour. Also, Karen watches Our Miss Brooks, which Mrs. McGill watches in Stacey's Choice.

^ I noticed all of those things, too, but this is still one of my favorite books. I read it every time I feel sick because of Lisa's comment about needing to rest to let your body heal when Karen thinks she's being a "lazybones". I'm constantly needing to tell myself that. ;D I love how Watson is the room father in this one and goes on their trip with them. I really enjoy reading about him being on the trip as it reminds me of something my dad would do. I always like hearing more about Watson and Karen spending time together and interacting because I can really relate but don't see it a whole lot (or maybe just not in the books I've read lately) in the books I read.

In grade school, I was always sick with something (I was one of those kids that got a cold or a flu whenever I came in contact with someone, my immune system wasn't as strong then as it is now) so I felt that I could really relate to this book (I still read it when I feel sick ;D). The chapter where Karen is up all night alone because she's sick (when she watches Our Miss Brooks) reminded me of nights where I would be unable to sleep due to feeling sick, only I watched Matlock, not Our Miss Brooks and my mom was up with me ;D. And the part where Karen feels better, but then starts throwing up in the middle of the night was another part I could relate to; I used to feel better periodically throughout my sick days and wanting to get up and play, only to find myself back on the couch two minutes later. I loved the zoo trip too; so awesome that Watson was the room father and came on the trip . There was a girl in my class in grade school whose father came along on field trips because her mom was a teacher so it was cool to see Watson doing that and I also liked that Ms. Colman got the postcards for Jannie because she was too sick to go (even though she's in Pamela's clique ;D).

I can relate to all, sweetcitygirl, except watched Matlock in the day and on prime time when I was a kid. I still catch reruns now when I can. ;D Also, didn't start reading this book until last year. Boo and Bullfrogs, I missed out on LS growing up..... Now I'll just have to make up for it, I guess. ;D

This book has an awesome picture of Watson at the zoo. He kinda looks like the Joker from Batman.

I read this book all the time when I was little. I remember Karen saying she felt so sick she didn't want anything "even Oreos!" Kid-me thought "wow, that's REALLY sick!" I couldn't imagine being so sick I wouldn't want Oreos. In fact whenever I stayed home from school sick I snuck oreos all day long.

I don't remember that part in the book, but when I was sick I ate Oreos all day long too ;D. My mom would always buy a package of them when I got sick and we would eat them all day lol (because let's face it, we were stuck home all day, so what else was there to do but eat? ;D). They were definitely one of my favorite sick foods, along with this white rice and brown butter my mom always used to make me for lunch when I was home sick .
