I really like Ms Colman. She is always so understanding and patient with her students and really listens to their problems. I think she's a great teacher. Too bad there aren't more like her. I also enjoy her relationship with Lisa and family and think it's cool that Karen got to be in her wedding. I had some teachers who were friends of the family and it always made me feel so special. I can relate to Karen on that.

Ms. Colman was very cool. Once I was in the second grade, I wished I had a teacher as nice as her. My second grade teacher was old and kind of grouchy

^ Mine was kind of a personal family friend and a good person but was a screamer in class and made me cry. And she played favorites terribly and I was not one of them. I was supposed to feel honored, though, that she "took me" in her class, though, so..... My mom did have a talk with her, though, about the screaming and it made her cry because she felt so bad and didn't realize she did it. ;D She did try to be better after that but I wish I would have had Ms Colman, too. ;D

I had a Ms. Colman-esque teacher in 2nd grade, but she was gone for most of the year because she was pregnant. Our sub was cool though, she brought in the movie Matilda and I was hooked on it ever since (that was the first time I saw that movie) ;D.

I had a teacher like Ms Colman when I was in grades 5 and 6. She was the loveliest person - I went to her for advice, and she always had time for me. She insisted that I be in her class in grade 6, because she knew I'd do better with her than any of the other teachers I could have had (they were very focused on sport, and I have some physical problems).

Oh, they can. They can make you go outside and, like, do stuff to learn. It's very annoying when you don't want to wear sensible shoes.

hahaha last spring we had a really weird phonetics teacher who was really boring. one day we asked him if we could have class outside, so he was like "let me find out." and he came back and said "well, i talked to my mom, and she said that someone was hit by a car today so it's too dangerous to go out onto the street."

hehe i always found it interesting that Ms. Colman was black, and they always made a big deal out of Jessi being black...but not out of her. Was that side of Stoneybrook REALLY that different? (and there was another black kid in her class, Omar Harris and Sara? I think...) Well maybe it was that different cause the town seemed to keep growing.... *shrug* anyway I really liked Ms. Colman. My second grade teache was a b**ch. She kind of reminds me of my fourth grade teacher though.

I always loved Ms. Colman and wished I had a teacher like her that was that understanding, would come up with fun projects. Whenever I read about her class I always want to be in it.

^ That's what I thought, too. I thought it was good to have an adult like Ms Colman in the books to show kids that there are people they can go to with their problems who will be understanding and helpful if they can't go to their parents. This is a good thing to encourage, I think. ;D

At primary school, it's more than possible. Some teachers would take their classes out for sport constantly. It was more the attitude, though - they acted like you weren't any good unless you were an athlete.

^ Definitely poosible. In HS, too. The teacher can also favor the kids who play a sport or share an interest. This happens all the time. Greer, love the story about your professor. ;D He sounds.... interesting. ;D
