^ That is one of the best! Thanks for reminding me of it. Am having a bad day right now and that gave me a needed smile. ;D Mary Anne, I agree about Amanda being better (though still bragging). I thought this was a cute book, too, and liked how Melody was introduced.

This was a cute book, I liked how close Karen and Amanda were in this book and it was hilarious when Mr. Delaney came out in all of the scuba gear lol ;D. I also liked how Melody was introduced, although I have issues with her and her family taking down the tennis courts for a garden (Karen's Bully) . I mean I would kill to have tennis courts in place of the crappy garden I have at my house. Why they couldn't just plant their garden somewhere else on that supposed huge property and leave the tennis courts alone is beyond me.

i guess because tennis courts require maintenance, and they didn't want to have do that and pay for it if no one in their family played tennis.

Yeah, they were clay courts, I believe. Which still makes me depressed, and makes me hate the Kormans just a little bit more.

I like when Karen and Amanda are diving for pennies in the pool at the beginning of the book...

What I don't get, is why they would buy that house in the first place. Tennis courts would be an asset, and improve the value of the property, especially in that market. They would be paying extra for a house that they immediately remodel. Not that doing that is unusual, but ... what on earth did the Kormans do for a living? Why would they need the BSC if they have that much money to just throw around ... removing fountains and tennis courts. They could just have a nanny, and save us all the hassle of reading about these boring people and their "special" toilet monster stories.

booboo I also like that. I remember doing that all the time, growing up. That, and diving for diving rings and diving sticks .. but pennys were always the best because they were harder to get.

i loved diving for rings too.
it's odd that a family with that much money wouldn't have a housekeeper or someone who would watch the kids. i guess scholastic's editors wanted to show how ~refreshingly normal~ the kormans were. barf.
sometimes as a kid i felt like the bsc made being rich seem like a bad thing, even though all of the sitters seemed to be pretty well-off. does that make sense to anyone else?

What kind of maintenance do tennis courts need? I thought after they were built they were just kinda there.
I wonder why the Kormans bought what sounded like the fanciest house on the block if they didn't want/need major things. They also didn't use the big fountain in the house because it scared Skylar, but I wonder if they would have used it anyway. I think something like that would annoy me.
Books like this show how sweet and considerate Karen could be. I liked the goodbye party, especially that Amanda and everyone got a poloroid picture together and each pair got a copy. Although that's a ton of poloroids to take!

It makes sense to me. I also hate how the Korman's are "refreshingly normal". I'll take the Delaney's any day. They at least had problems I could relate to. How many kids can actually relate to the f'ing toilet monster? Maybe kids who have been recently toilet trained. But can they read? Probably not.

i believed in a toilet monster when i was around two. i had just been potty-trained, and then my brother's jerk friend showed me the toilet monster toy from ghostbusters and told me it was real. i had to start from square one after that. but yeah, i definitely wasn't reading bsc yet. as you can see it is very scary: www.amazon.com/Fearsome-Flush-Action-Figure-Ghostbusters/dp/B000QS64T2
