the picture of mr. delaney in the scuba wear is funny. I agree ;D ^ That is one of the best! Thanks for reminding me of it. Am having a bad day right now and that gave me a needed smile. ;D That's nice ^Karen was definitely really sweet to Amanda. I loved her photo album gift. I really liked that part too . Karen's a very nice kid, with LOTS of imagination ;D.

I always liked the fact Hannie and Amanda didn't get along, even though they were both Karen's friends. I think it was realistic.

This should probably go in the Korman's thread, but maybe they were a normal family who won the lottery or something and just moved into an extravagant house for the hell of it. Did they ever say what the Kormans did for a living? I only read this book a few times, but I remember liking it. It was nice to see a side of Karen and Amanda that weren't brats. Amanda was pretty mean to Melody in the beginning, though, and I kinda wanted Melody to lose it and just smack her. LOL.

Except for the Delaneys, I thought pretty much everyone in the neighborhood was portrayed as these nice, normal, down to earth people. Rich people, they're just like us. I wish Amanda had stuck around. It was nice to see Karen with someone she didn't always see eye to eye with but was still pretty good friends with. Anything to break up the monotony of the 3 Musketeers. Actually Amanda sounded a lot like Pamela Harding, so it's funny that Karen could be friends with one and completely hate the other.

^ That's so true... I wonder if Amanda and Pamela would have been good friends if they had of known each other? Or constantly competing?

They probably would have been friends. They seem to have so much in common including being spoiled and snobby.

I don't think Karen and Amanda would have been friends if they'd only recently met, I think they'd probably clash too much. I assume they'd known each other for a while (due to living on the same street and all) and had kind of watched each other's personalities develop, and were used to each other. I loved the going-away party in this, of course, and the picture of Karen and Amanda in the mirrors (if this is the book I'm thinking of).

Possibly they'd been friends from early on, since pre-divorce Karen had lived at the Big House.

I liked reading about Karen and Amanda hanging out after Karen found out that Amanda was moving. It was nice of Karen to give Amanda a party. The picture of Mr. Delaney wearing an inflatable tube, flippers and a diving mask was kinda funny.

I liked the lesson for kids in this book -- that friends can move away, but you move on and make new friends. Life is full of changes. I bet a lot of kids could relate to this moving away plot.
It was really sweet of Karen to throw Amanda the party AND make her such a sentimental gift.

After all, too, Melody had just left her old area too.

Melody looks like a mini Mary Anne. I wish Amanda stuck around. I liked her as a character. It would have been interesting for either Hannie or Nancy to move away. But then again there would be no 3 Musketeers. I cringe at Karen's outfit on the cover though. It looks like something Elizabeth or Lisa would wear - not a 7 year old girl.
