There was also a lady on Maury who was afraid of mustard... and she worked at Burger King. She just wouldn't put mustard on anybody's burgers. I don't know why she didn't get fired.

I think I learned about Tourette syndrome from the Maury Povich Show. The things you learn from random places...This has nothing to do with Karen's grandma. I bet they watched Maury in the nursing home though.

I bet they watched Maury in the nursing home though. Haha maybe ;D. I actually had a hard time sympathizing with Nancy in this book, mostly because I couldn't understand where she was coming from on her fear of old people. When I was her age and even before that, I was always at my grandma's house. She was one of my closest family members next to my parents and my grandma would always bring her friends over and it never bothered me. I think it was because I had exposure to older people that made it easier for me to be around them. My aunt also works at a nursing home so I've been exposed to older people there as well. So when I was reading this book I was just like WTF at Nancy because really, how and why could you be afraid of old people?

I understand her being uncomfortable around the old people at the nursing home. I don't understand her freaking out when she saw the picture of Karen's granny.

I don't understand her freaking out when she saw the picture of Karen's granny. Yeah, this is exactly my point. Her freaking out over the picture of Granny was way too over the top.

Why would anyone be scared of old people or have a reason to be?

Just unfamiliarity, I suppose.

I also can't fathom how someone could be scared of the elderly. It's nice to know that Nancy and Grandma B became close.

I hope eventually Grandma B was a good grandma to Danny!

By process of elimination I suppose "Neena" must be Watson's mother, although we really seem never to hear of her anywhere else.

Strange how Nannie is so much more involved in their lives then Neena, although we dont know where Neena lived. Karen seemed to have more interaction with her step grandparents though.

Neena might have retired to Florida.

I would also think that she wanted to retire in Florida as well. Almost all the elderly mentioned in Stoneybrooke retire in Florida.
