Karen had no interest in music at all in this one, but suddenly had it in Karen's surprise, I found that interesting. And I thought it was sweet how Nancy adopted her
I thought it was sweet of Karen to set up Granny and Nancy and heraing about the animals
I remember when I was a camp counsellor one year, one of the activities for the day was to make pasta necklaces and shiny boxes and I immediately thought of this book lmao

I love the look on Nancy's face in the drawing on page 91.

Mine are/were just "Grandma" and "Grandpa" on both sides of the family. (Well, not so formal. More like "Gramma/Grampa") When referring to them to other people it was "Grandma/Grandpa Last Name". My parents became 1st time grandparents in April so they had to decide what they wanted to be called. My mom wanted to wait and see what my niece would start calling her, but my brother was like "Uh, no. We have to call you something now.". So they are "Grandma/Grandpa" or "Grandma/Grandpa First Name".

I remember liking this book, I didn't read that many Little Sister books, but this one one of my favourites. Both my grandads died when I was young, but I used to call my grandmothers Nana, to distinguish between them they were "Nana up" and "Nana down" because one lived up on a hill and the oter lived down at a bridge. My older relatives all lived in their own houses when I was younger, so no visits to nursing homes. Though I did have a grand-aunt who was a nun so we used to visit her in the convent where there was lots of old nuns but they were all really nice and they used to insist on feeding us lots whenever we visited.

I like how this book talked about Grandparents Day! I always remember it because it usually falls somewhere between my birthday (Sept 10) and my sister's birthday (4th). We were raised by our Nana and Popa.
One of my favourite parts of the book was Karen's bitchy moment when Granny knits Nancy a pair of mittens with her name on it and Karen says, "I thought that my Karen mittens were very special. I guess Granny knits name-mittens for any girl who comes along." LOL!

Yeah it's common to have jealous feelings, it reminds you that she's just human once again....I wonder why Andrew didn't have mittens either

Do we ever get to read about Grandma B spending time with Nancy and her family? I'd love to read more about them.

^ Yes. I know Grandma B is definitely mentioned in passing - at least once - but I can't remember if she actually makes a sizable appearance in any other book. I believe in Karen's Wish (or another holiday book), either Nancy or Karen mentions that Grandma B is spending the holiday with the Dawes family.
