Karen sure knows how to annoy people... She was a little conceited in this one, and I felt bad for Andrew.

Even though Karen was extremely pompous in this book, I actually liked it. I was a total Karen when it came to spelling and went to lots of spelling bees during my grade school years so reading about Karen go through it made it a lot easier for me .

I really liked this one too. Even though Karen did brag a lot at the beginning, I actually try to take some from her in this book because I tend (and always did) to be the opposite - constantly feeling guilty for even mentioning my accomplishments. I feel like I can use a lot of Karen's confidence sometimes. ;D I didn't care for this one much the very first time I read it (reminded me of my little cousin who is the world's hugest bragger - makes Karen at her worst look extremely modest ;D) but like it more with each reread. ;D

Yeah, I didn't like Karen's bragging so much either, especially since I never bragged about how good of a speller I was but that's Karen for you ;D.

i don't think karen ever means to brag or hurt people's feelings. she's just confident.

I agree, she is pretty clueless to how people do not like braggers!

^ I don't think she is necessarily clueless about people not liking braggers. I think she just didn't realize she was bragging. Once she did, I think she felt bad and tried to change because she knew people didn't like it and she was doing the wrong thing.

^I agree. I think Karen just felt that if she did something well, there's nothing wrong with being proud of herself. she's just confident. ;D

^ I read her books to try to learn from her example now since I could actually use a lot of this confidence. ;D I have the opposite problem, it seems, with being so concerned about being modest that I feel like I can't even feel proud of anything I do....

I sometimes am the exact same way. I try to learn something from her confidence as well and wish I had some of it.

I really liked this book too. I didn't like Karen's bragging,of course, but I guess she's just very confident like greer said. I've joined some spelling bees myself and I won them all. I didn't brag though. ;D and I felt bad for Andrew. Yeah,me too. Even though she snapped and acted really rude at him,he kept repeating that he still thinks Karen's "an S-T-A-R".

^ I'll have to reread this one as I don't remember Andrew. It sounds sweet, though. ;D

^ He can be sweet in some books but in others (Karen's Tattletale) he really makes me mad. ;D I never was even in a spelling bee (I'm kind of a Claudia with spelling ;D)
