Yeah I can't stand him in Karen's Tattletale either, he was so mean . But he was sweet in this book .

Msstock87, I agree too. Andrew is a spoiled brat but has a hidden sensitive side that isn't explored as often as it should. Sometimes I feel that boys are kinda looked down upon in the BSC books. Not to say there's anything wrong with that, but come on, we're not monsters, most of us!!

^ Same here, MA! I mean, what kids are not brats, ever? (Well, not counting some of the kids in BSC-Land ;D) Generally, I thought Andrew was a sweetie The one thing I took from this book, aka, the one thing I've never forgotten even though I haven't read it in years: Seth tells Karen something along the lines of 'Believe it or not, but there's a lie in the middle of believe'. I've never forgotten this. Even though I know how to spell it, if I accidentally put the e before the i I'm like, no, wait - there's a lie in the middle of believe. Haha. I don't know why I remember that lol.

I aced most of my spelling tests too in elementary school and wished my school would hold a spelling bee

I was good at spelling tests, but then again I knew which words to study beforehand. I wasn't as good at spelling bees when I couldn't write stuff down. Plus I got too nervous from being in front of a crowd.

For a long time, although generally I have always spelled well, I would reverse the c and t in "kitchen" or anything else with a cth.

It's funny that Hannie and Nancy are willing to play with Leslie and Jannie in these earlier books, even once Pamela has joined their class. It's not much later before Pamela's trio and Karen's have less than nothing to do with each other.

It's also funny becaue when Pamela, Leslie, and Jannie got into fights, neither of them are willing to play with Karen and her friends.

My friends and I always made ourselves lose the spelling bees right away so we could sit in the back of the room and "talk" (or gossip, if we want to be honest). I hated them so much anyway, I can't spell unless I can see it.
I'm surprised no one in Karen's class did that. They all seemed to be really into it. I went to a private school, probably more intense than Karen's non uniform wearing school. Of course, we also never did the whole "let's compete for state title" or anything. We just had class spelling bees, and not even very often.

I agree. Andrew was shy most of the time, but he would tattle on Karen in a heartbeat. Andrew was such a big baby.

Pamela was completely not interested, which makes me wonder if she was trying to hide a Claudia-like spelling inability.
