No one teaches Karen any manners or anything about respect though I don't blame her for not wanting to go and going through with those things, but whenever she messes up, she either gets away with it, or her parents fight without resolving it with her.

Pamela's birthday is in February. This sounds weird but I like knowing when character's have birthdays. I liked that, too. Now I sort of picture her as this classmate of mine in elementary school who also had a birthday right before Valentine's Day... Karen wants a vanilla milkshake when she goes out to eat; Mary Anne also wants one in MA vs. Logan. I hadn't noticed that before. Karen worries that she might get teased for writing "Love, Karen" on her valentine to Ricky. One time in fifth grade I wrote "Love" on a get well card for a boy in our class and was teased a little for it, and I was like, I don't love him, I just thought you were always supposed to sign your name with "love" on cards?! That's how my parents always taught me to do it. Haha, I was pretty embarrassed

Aw that's cute I think of it as something sweet and innocent too. Also both the Brewers and Spiers/Schafers used red food colouring for their valentines breakfast. Milk for the Brewers and butter for the Spiers.

Sorry if I'm bumping something but I feel really bad that by the end of the series that Nancy never got 'married.' This is my favorite book (and the first one I picked up) but I just noticed after rereading all of the books. Didn't she say that she liked someone in a book? Maybe it was Bobby since they started B&N gardeners in book 53.

Ann must really hate redheads I think Nancy was the most awesome out of the Musketeers, too good for them! She was sassy and let you have it if you messed with her or her friends

Did anyone else think it was funny how Karen thought asking Natalie to play violin was cause she felt bad for her not getting enough Valentine's than because she genuinely wanted her to play it for being awesome enough to know how?

I read this book last night for some early Valentine's cheer and it did bring me a smile. I realized Ricky and Karen's wedding was on Monday, February 17th. I did think it was sweet how a lot of their classmates helped with the ceremony. Also loved how Karen brought Natalie a lot of cheer by inviting her be the wedding musician. Karen really does have a great way of trying to make things right (In this book helping Natalie to feel ebtter by asking her to be wedding musician). I could have done without the Pamela meanie mo-ness. Wow what gigundoly cool goody bags Pamela gave out. I tried posting a the pages (30-31) where Karen lists what the boys and girls were given but it didn't come out too clearly. :/ Among other things the girls got fuzzy stickers and rainbow stationery. The boys got a pocket puzzle (is that one of those square puzzles where you slide the pieces into place?) and a paddle ball. All the kids got a $1 bill. That was sure generous and very kind of both Pamela and her parents. I have wanted to read Mallory and the Trouble with Twins anyway and now really will have to. I remember the goody bags at that the Arnold girls party were Mal note worthy. Emily being so excited at McDonald's was funny, too. I did love the little house Valentine's breakfast and celebration, too. Such a cute story.

I think I had one of those pocket puzzles. The Hardings sure knew how to put together a goody bag

Also thought of the little puzzle with the squares when the pocket puzzle was mentioned. I thought the pencils with the birthday cake and helicopter at the top sounded neat, and I could tell Karen felt bad that the bracelets she got Pamela were worth how much she got in her bag. I know Pamela acted like a brat in Karen's Sleepover, but she really isn't that bad.

This is one of my favorite LS books. I loved the description of the goody bags, they sounded so fun! It was really sweet of Karen to try to make Natalie feel better. I felt so bad for Natalie in this book. When I was in elementary school and we had Valentines parties, we were required to give Valentines to everyone in our class so nobody got hurt feelings.

Same here. As a teacher, I'd also instruct my class to make Valentines for everyone.

Yeah, it just seems like the thing to do.
From the book:
I think that was really uncool of Ms. Colman.
Pamela's parents invited her whole class to her party even though I'm sure they were aware that Pamela only had a few really good friends.
