Pen pals are such fun. I have several as an adult (and zoar is one of them!)

Adult pen pals are even more fun because you don't get stuck writing to someone who doesn't really want to do it. In school when we had pen pals I always got kids who wrote exactly as much as the teacher made them, and nobody ever wanted to exchange addresses and keep writing in the summer and beyond.
I think it's neat that Karen's class got to meet their pen pals but overall this isn't one of my favorite LS books.

^I reread this book a couple nights ago. I had finished the Pen Pal series of books which I love and wanted to give this LS story another try. I did realize that Maxie (LS) has the full name of Maxine and has red hair much like her pen pals counterpart. I always enjoy finding a new BSC/LS connection This one isn't a favorite of mine and Maxie really doesn't grow on me though I was glad she and Karen had fun at the museum in Karen's Dinosaur. I preferred Karen's Show and Share and even Chain Letter (where the KIMCC create a class web site and keep in touch with pen pals that way) to this one. I did as a kid have an eraser collection so thought it was cool both Maxie and Karen, did, too. Thanks, Wenonah. I will always remember how our board pen pal and also card exchanges have been a lot of fun and allowed for us to become closer.
