The orange leaves on the front cover are pretty. Love cats. Loved the development of Boo Boo in this book. Kind of makes sense how he could have turned out that way. He once belonged to Watson, soon all of these other people started being introduced. Finally you have a full house, including little kids who probably pester and annoy you.
R.I.P., Boo.

I felt bad for Karen in this book and I felt bad for Boo-Boo too, especially when Karen tells Nannie "I just want to love a better cat." But Karen's just a kid, she doesn't understand that Boo-Boo is going to die, and he's always been described as cranky in the books. She's probably gotten an armful of claws from him a few times.
I love the part where she tries to get the kitten to walk on the leash.
The pet party at school is such a terrible idea.

^ I read this one the other night. I liked the part where we find out that Watson named Boo Boo "Boo boo" after he made a boo boo by not picking him in the first place (and possibly going with another cat).
Last year my friend took me way out in the country to get my cat, Margo, fixed. For some reason it was cheaper to get her fixed there than in the city, mostly because the country clinic deals with a lot of strays and farm animals. While we were there, this cute orange-and-white cat kept coming around the clinic and trying to get into the front door. I said to the receptionist, "I think one of the cats escaped outside!" She said that the cat didn't belong to the clinic but was a stray who they had fixed and kept coming back to the clinic, thinking it was it's home. I thought it was so cute how a cat would WANT to go to the vet.
I named the cat Pumpkin, mostly because this was a week before Halloween and she looked so good against the fall setting. I told my friend she should adopt Pumpkin (I couldn't because I lived with 3 cats at the time and we didn't need another one).
We regret not taking her to this day. Pumpkin, the cat name, will always remind me of the vet stray Pumpkin.

It's funny that David Michael suggests naming the black kitten Midnight, considering that their next-door neighbor Mrs. Porter already had a black cat named Midnight. Of course he named his dog after a neighbor too so maybe he just wasn't good at coming up with names on his own.
Boo-Boo was always my favorite pet in the series, I like reading about him in this book.

This was the other book (Big Job) I got in the mail from PBS today. I felt badly for poor Boo Boo, it makes me sad to think of anyone, especially an animal who has limited ways of expressing their needs, in distress. :/ The pet party at school was a horrible idea. Fun for the kids and a novelty to bring their pets but it would have worked better to maybe do that at a park on a class picnic or something. Lol, all of you know my cat feelings and I was excited when Karen saw the ad for puppies. My favorite part of the book though was the very end scene when Karen is sitting with Boo Boo and Pumpkin and tells them she loves them both and that all three of them will be okay. It was so sweet how Karen did try to bring her two feline pets together and show them she cared for each of them.

This book was not very Halloweenie. I can't believe that the last time I posted my geriatric cat had just died, and now again I lost another old lady cat less than a year ago. I love old cats so much. I would hang out with ten Boo-Boos over one Pumpkin any day. I wonder why Watson didn't take the family to an animal shelter since he had so much luck with Boo-Boo. (Some shelters wouldn't have even offered up Pumpkin so close to Halloween.) The woman that they went to was really generous with the shots/vet bills prior to adoption. I have to say again how stupid this party was. Then they didn't even bless us with some illustrations of the pets in costumes or even tell us what they were. Lame.
