I didn't see a thread for this one either. Just read it for one of the first times and really liked it. I thought the whole skit for Watson was so sweet and was kind of annoyed with Kristy (though I understand why she might be ;D) for acting kind of put out about having to help with it. I thought it was sweet Karen wanted to include her. ;D I also really enjoyed how Karen helped Sandy get over her fears and how she "swam" with Emily. Reminds me of when I took my little cousin in the pool for the first time at Emily's age and she loved it! ;D I liked the description of the island, too. Sounds like a fun vacation. ;D

I just read this one for the first time too and liked it a lot ;D. I felt bad for Watson when the family nearly forgot about his birthday, although I did lol when the realization came to them. I pictured them thinking, "Oh crap, we forgot his birthday!" lol ;D. Also liked the friendship Karen had with Sandy, even though it took a while for her to warm up to Karen. She really was brave, attempting to befriend her so many times. I'm shy and if someone shot me down while I was trying to befriend them, I would've just gave up and left them alone. But not Karen, she just goes for the gusto ;D.

This is one of my favorite LS books. I love the description of the island as well. I think Karen's skit was a very creative present to give Watson. I also loved how she helped Sandy got over her fears. I wanted to go on vacation so bad after reading this book.

I liked this book. I remember how they threw a party for Watson and when Karen and her new friend Sandy went exploring at the beach. Sandy kind of reminded me of myself.

The plane they took to Miami had ten seats across! How convenient for them: Charlie, Sam, and David Michael in three, the adults and Emily in the four middle seats, and Kristy, Andrew, and Karen in the three on the other side. I've never been on a plane with that many...there were nine seats across on the plane in Baby-sitters on Board. Oh, and the last plane ride to the island was, according to Karen, "noisy, bumpy, and fun!" Karen and I have markedly different ideas of fun, because a noisy, bumpy ride in a tiny plane sounds...what's the word...terrifying. Karen and Sandy's tie-dyed dresses they bought on the beach and wore to the dinner sounded cute. Yesterday I was wearing a tie-dyed shirt and was asked if I made it myself...I didn't. I've had it for years and years

^I still have a tie dyed shirt I made in Chemistry class from high school that I still like to wear. I think those dresses sounded cute as well, very Summery.

I liked this book. The trip sounded like it was a lot of fun. I like how Karen didn't give up on trying to be Sandra's friend. I liked Watson's surprise birthday party.

Based on the timing of this book, Watson must be a Pisces (or an Aries like Karen) depending on whether he was born mid or late March.

It's like the FAA read the boards or something because didn't Miami just recently start handling Airbus A380s?

I've had this book for years, but didn't read it till this summer. She's way too young to be going around like that alone, but I thought her friendship with Sandra was sweet, and also the surprise party

I don't understand why the planes the sitters take are always so huge. Those are usually for long-haul flights, not the three hour max flight to Miami. They took a huge plane to Orlando, too. I fly from the northeast to Florida fairly often, and it's usually 3 on each side.
