I really liked this book, especially reading about DC. It brought back good memories of our trip there. ;D (Except it was July and about 115 degrees - seriously ;D) I thought it was cool that Karen got to meet the president (far-fetched I know but it's a book - I like when stuff like that happens. ;D) My favorite part was when Watson helped her with the video and "played" the part of the president. It reminded me of when my dad used to "perform" in me and my friends' American Girl computer program plays. ;D

I loved this book too! I liked reading about every place they visited. It made me want to visit DC again. I liked the part where she met the president, even though like you said aln it was far fetched. I also liked it how Karen read the newspaper to check where the President was going to be that day. I thought it was cute.

Aln, go you one better: a couple years ago my cousins, myself, my father, and my husband put on an adaptation of a story from one of the Homer Price books for the rest of our family. And somehow it worked.

I basically envied Karen and her family, going to DC when it was chilly and rainy. When I went it was like 115 degrees and too uncomfortable to learn anything. Plus, I never got to see the White House or even get a glimpse of the president (which at the time would've been Bill Clinton ;D) because the line was always out the door and it was too hot to wait. I did like this book though. Reminded me of the things I saw on my DC trip and I did like the I Love Lucy chapter at the beginning when Karen watches the episode of Lucy stomping in the grape vat. That's one of my favorite episodes ;D. I have that game! I haven't played it since we got our new computer a couple of years ago (because we don't have a microphone for this computer) but it's so awesome. My friends and I used to put on plays that were totally irrelevant to the time period of the American Girls but they were hilarious ;D.

I liked this book as well. I can relate to Karen because my family went to D.C. one year to meet former President Bill Clinton, but he wasn't there at the time.

Karen sure has interesting vacations. I don't think she got to meet the president though.

Yeah she did at the end. And he also happened to be an I Love Lucy fan, go figure .

of COURSE Karen met the president. I haven't read this book though--how did it happen? Maybe it's not SO unrealistic--my dad met Bill Clinton and my godmother's husband met Barack Obama on an omelet line back when he was running for senator. ;D

of COURSE Karen met the president. I haven't read this book though--how did it happen? I forgot; I think it was when they were touring the White House but don't hold me to it. Earlier in the book Karen spots his limo as she and her family are leaving a restaurant but that's all I really remember. And I think it was meant to be a fictional president as well .

Yes, it was on a White House tour. They didn't think they were going to be able to meet the President, but apparently Elizabeth knows someone who works at the White House... who knew?

um okay, but it's been a while since I've read this book. The president's name was never mentioned.

^ Probably because it was a fictional president, at least that's what makes the most sense .

I like that the president wasn't given a name, regardless of whether the president was meant to be a fictional one or a real one. If he was named and the name was of a real president, I would have found this book to be dated.
I liked all the places they visited in Washington D.C. I would like to go to all the places that they went.

I think it would have been 300 kinds of awesome if they met Bill Clinton. Preferably with a crazy illustration of it. Maybe I'm weird, but I don't feel like things are dated if I've lived through what was mentioned. Like if they met Jimmy Carter I would have been like "d**n, this is outdated." But if they met Clinton or Bush Sr. I would have been "Cool!"
