I don't know if I liked the fact that they had a fictional president. I wouldn't have minded it, but they mentioned that the president had a wife and young daughter -- so those facts don't add up to the ACTUAL presidents around that time.
If they wanted a fictional president, they shouldn't have given any information on his personal/family life in my opinion.

This seemed like the perfect voting day book to read. I enjoyed much more this time around. One thing I really loved was that this book had Stoneybrook scenes both before and after the DC trip. I wish we had gotten to read about David Michael helping Charlie at the library and Karen helping Kristy, the TB's seemed closer in this book and that was very cool. ITA it was super clever of Karen to check the newspaper each day for the president's schedule and was glad she and her entire family got to meet him. I do wish he was given a name! Did Andrew ever talk of wanting to be a fireman again? He liked the Capitol building in this story and Elizabeth said he could work there one day if he wanted. That was when Andrew replied he wanted to be a fireman. In the Bobbsey Twins books, Freddie the 6 year old, always shares about wanting to be a fireman so it was an extra BSC reference to another book to have that here with Andrew. I wanted to hug Watson for helping Karen with her video, what a great dad and gigundoly great idea Karen had to make a video of part of her meeting with the president for her class assignment. That was my favorite part and I also liked the illustration on page 89 of the Big house family meeting the (not pictured) president. I did notice that either Sam or Charlie is missing. Everyone looks so nice and happy to be together there. A funny addition, loved that Karen bought Emily a DC placemat so she (Emily) "could spill her chocolate milk on important places." That was really cute. The other thing that jumped out at me was Karen mentioning her trip to Plimoth Plantation and Remember, I will have to read Karen's Pilgrim within the next few weeks.

This was okay book. I guess, they couldn't mention President Clinton, in the book. It's far fetched, that Karen got to meet the President. Very rare to meet the President in person.

There wasn't enough to snark about in this one. I'm not here for educational Little Sister books. I liked how Nannie immediately said she was staying home with Emily and the pets. She wasn't feeling it, either. Hannie's uncle died in the Vietnam War. The illustration of them meeting the president was the whole family (minus Charlie or Sam, one of them didn't make the cut) staring at the back of the guy's head while he sat in a chair. Lol. Then there's an illustration of Karen holding the photograph of her shaking the President's hand. His arm is bent at a 90 degree angle while her arm is straight out with her hand almost even height to her head. I don't even know how that works. The class assignment was to decide what they would do if they were President. Omar would cut taxes. Addie would make animals citizens, too. (My cat would vote for you, Addie.) Nancy (and Ms. Colman) was for gun control. Karen finally decided that she would declare a national holiday for Presidents' Partners because of all of the good things that First Ladies have done. (She first said First Ladies' Day but then decided that she might want to be President and have her husband celebrated. I thought maybe she was going for gay marriage for a second, but no.) Lol. There's a paragraph about a book that Karen read called The Gator Girls. I looked it up expecting it to be fake. It's real. It looks cute. It is written by Stephanie Calmenson, who ghostwrote this book. Way to promote yourself, haha!

I skipped this one as I live in Australia and I'm a royalist. I have no interest in American presidents and democrats and republicans. Just like I skip the thanksgiving books.
