Just read Easter Parade and really liked the book but couldn't stand Diana. I actually didn't like her much in Magic Garden, either, maybe because I read Easter Parade first and it tainted my perception of her. She just seems really bratty (a lot like Pamela, as Nancy pointed out ;D) I wish Karen would have told on her with the shoplifting thing and did like how she stood up to the bullies at the mall but still thought she was a brat. I know there had been a question before in a thread about where Diana was from. Not sure if it was answered but Easter Parade said PA.

Diana was...the cousin? I read this and thought for a second that she was the friend from Granny's farm. That was Tia. And Maxie's the pen pal. Karen has way too many friends floating around out there.

^ Yes, Diana was the cousin who was in Magic Garden and Easter Parade (the "almost twin" ;D) Tia was the Granny farm friend. She annoyed me too (so did Maxie ;D) but was better than Diana. ;D

I read Magic Garden first so I had a better perception of Diana when I read about her. In that book, she was so awesome and reminded me a lot of my cousin . However, my opinion on her changed when I read Easter Parade. The way she acted in that book was so out of character. I don't even remember if the reasons why she acted that way were even explained in the book (I may be wrong because it's been a few years since I've read Easter Parade); she was just mean and bratty for the majority of the book and sweet at the very last chapter of the book. I didn't really think that was fair; the ghostwriter who wrote it should've at least had some sense to insert an explanation of Diana's behavior for the readers (then again this ghostwriter also turned Kelsey from a girl to a boy ;D). So basically, I have a love/hate opinion when it comes to Diana. When I read Magic Garden I love her and when I read Easter Parade, I hate her and want to punch her lights out even if she did defend Karen and Andrew at the department store ;D.

I really liked Diana in Magic Garden, that is one of my favorite LS books actually. In Easter Parade I didn't like how her personality seemed to completely change. I did like it when she stood up for Andrew at the department store. It doesn't excuse her behavior earlier in that book though. I am glad though she seemed to come around and be more of her old self towards the end of the book though.

I also liked Diana in Karen's Magic Garden. She seemed sweet. I wonder why Karen and her never spent that much time together. I think Diana makes anothr appearance in a later bsls book though.

Magic Garden is among my top 5 favourite LS books, and I really like Diana in that. She was a brat in Easter Parade, but I only read that for the first time this year, so my opinion of her was already fully formed by then. I guess if a character's written to be likeable (the way she was in Magic Garden), the readers are more likely to find her likeable.

I haven't read this in ages. Well, Diana seemed like a good kid, but later on in Karen's Easter Parade she changed and just didn't seem like the cousin that Karen once knew.

I agree. I really liked Diana in Karen's Magic Garden but in Karen's Easter Parade, I thought that she was a brat.

Wasn't that kind of Karen's point?
