I tell you, I just felt awful for Karen when CL I died. I felt she blamed DM unfairly, but that was understandable. It must have been difficult for her parent's to cope with. And poor Morbidda! Every time she does something nice, she is still thought of as a witch!

I thought Karen took it too far with David Michael; he did apologize to her. But I mean, yeah, having your fish die on your stepbrother's watch isn't fun. Mrs. Porter was really nice to give Karen a fish from her pond, considering Karen called her a witch to her face at Watson's wedding.

How nice that Karen forgot about Crystal Light I thirty seconds after the funeral when she got Crystal Light II. It was cute when Andrew freaked out and thought CLI had come back to life.

Haha, too true Sparklymouse! Yes, I agree Andrea (SVG99). I loved how Watson was annoyed about having to buy all the equipment, lol.

^Dude, when I was Karen's age I had goldfish. In a plain glass fishbowl. They died like 3 days later, but most likely because I overfed them and not because of their cheap house. I hated how every time Karen and Andrew got a pet it was a huge, dramatic, expensive deal.

Watson didn't have to buy all that stuff; he let the salesperson talk him into it without putting up a fuss

I also think that she's loney, not just a mean nasty old lady next door like i think was shown in the first half of the BSC books,

I don't neccessarily think her goldfish dying is unfair, it's life.

It's unfair that it died at her fathers house when she wasn't there. A child of non divorced parents wouldn't have had to wait a week to mourn the passing of a fish. ... but then again, many other parents would have replaced the fish when Karen wasn't looking.

I don't know how many kids would seriously mourn a goldfish anyway. (Except maybe Rudy on the Cosby Show, and even then Cliff seemed much more into it than the kids. ;D) If Emily Jr. had died at the little house while Karen was at the big house then I would be more understanding of her drama.

I used to always laugh at sitcoms that had a fish dying episode because the funerals they would have for it were hilarious. One of my favorites was Different Strokes when Arnold's goldfish died and the family made this big show of processing to the bathroom with his fish in a little box and Arnold says (off camera), "Those who come from the sea, shall return to the sea!" and then they flush him lol ;D. I'm just glad that they never killed off Emily Jr. Now that would've been a really sad book!
