Yea, its part of life, but its like all this 'nuts happens' stuff ends up happening to Karen. I guess the books need a plot or some sort of problem or it be kinda pointless.

I think there was a Full House episode where Michelle's fish died. Yeah, there was. That one was actually sad because Michelle didn't know that when you clean a fish and its bowl, you don't put it in the bathtub. She basically drowned the whole thing and it was so sad . I mean, I'm sure it would've died within a day or so anyway, but still, it sucked.

I had a ridiculous fish funeral for my rainbow guppies (Edmund and Lucy) when they died, and I was 20. I put on a black dress and heels, and my friend and I sang the Navy Hymn before we flushed them. (She was a marine biology major, so she was tolerant of fish funerals.) I felt bad because it was totally my fault they died. I went to visit my parents for the weekend and left the window open in my room, there was a sudden cold spell while I was gone, and when I got back, the poor things were frozen little fishsicles.

My friend and I buried our shared beta under a favorite tree a few years back. We didn't really dress up for it or anything, but we did make him a little coffin out of cardboard and construction paper. I had forgotten about that until just now. I don't even remember that fishes name.

Karen become emo, but I LOVED her black outfits and the pretty stone she painted for Crystal Light.

I must have read this book about 100 times. I loved it! Sad when Crystal Light dies. It sure was nice of Mrs. Porter to give Karen a new fish. How sweet.

I remember Michelle from Full House was sad when her fish died after she tried to give it a bath My first full house episode ever I re read this book over the weekend too and could relate to her grieving although for years I thought she was being so pathetic and childish and that the funeral was too much. But I don't find it silly anymore

^That's funny because I feel the exact opposite now. I used to love this book when I was a kid, I liked her outfits, and the stone she painted, but reading it last night I was like...this isn't...that big of a deal. Lol. Maybe because she hadn't even had Crystal Light for that long? I found all the funeral stuff a little annoying. I could see Lisa and Seth being sincere about it if Crystal Light had died at the little house, but everyone at the big house was just sort of like, "um, all right." Why did Karen and Andrew need pets of their own so badly at the big house? Andrew's just four. I never had a pet growing up, and I was fine, but whatever. I did like Kristy's speech though. And David Michael is a good kid...even after Karen says he can't come to the funeral, he still dresses in black like everyone else.

I thought this book was hilarious, with Karen's overreaction. I couldn't take it seriously. On the other hand, I cry every time I read Kristy and the Snobs and get to Louie's death.
My favourite part of this one is Karen's preparations for the funeral. She's overcome with emotion as she asks Kristy to make a speech, and then she decorates the coffin with a rainbow and cries over how beautiful it is. Hee. I also love that she considered writing on the gravestone, "Crystal Light - Her Life Was Snuffed Out By a Fish-Killer". Awesome.
I liked the fact that Karen is ready to think of Morbidda Destiny as a good witch when it suits her, but she is always convinced that she must be a witch one way or another.

Karen naming her fish Crystal Light always made me think of the drink mix of the same name.
