I love how the rainbow popcorn was described as a cloud, it sounded like something out of Care Bears or Rainbow Brite to me Maybe Karen could have learned how to make jam since Mary Anne failed at it in Iowa

I was going to edit my original post to amend I have only 3 of the LS super specials. I have read them all except for the three musketeers which I hope to get in the mail next week. I'm not so sure on the other 5, but "Karen's Wish," is one of my favorite LS books period, so that was "a special" book to me not sure about super but lol it was...more endearing than this one I'll leave it at that!

I have extra copies of all the LS SS except #4, the Karen, Hannie, and Nancy one, if you would like to trade I found them all at Goodwill, and then my mom found them all at some thrift store where she lives. They are all in like new condition as far as I can tell. I was going to edit my original post to amend I have only 3 of the LS super specials. I went back and read Karen's Grandmothers, to see what Karen said about Granny in that one because I was thinking it was dumb to send Karen off to a farm with no idea of what to expect. But in Karen's Grandmothers, she got letters from Granny and was fully aware that she lived on a farm, had a tractor, had barn cats. So, the adults probably didn't think they needed to explicitly tell her "hey you're going to a farm" because she already knew. Although they maybe should have told her about Granny and Grandad not having TV. An adult also should have checked her suitcase but really, I don't think there was any reason for them to suspect that Karen would have flown to visit a farm having packed nothing but party dresses.
For some reason, Karen just had stupid expectations and completely forgot everything she already knew about the farm when she was preparing to go.

When I was 7. My mom pack my suitcase. Like, if I was going spend the night at my grandparents house. Cause, my mom know what stuff to bring when spending night at my grandparents house. It wasn't far. All 4 of them lived in Michigan. 3 are deceased. 1 is in nursing home.

I just finish Karen's Plane Trip.
Now days, it wouldn't be safe for Karen talk to Lewis on the plane. She wouldn't know who he really is.
I do like the Tia & Karen making board games.

^Eh, I think kids can still talk to people on planes. Not that strangers want to listen to them.

Yeah I always she talked too much to a stranger though he seemed nice, but these days not everyone is and the fear factor has really gone up in general since those days.
Didn't she also colour a page for him and autograph it? What a ham!

Ugh, that "fear factor," or what is also called worst-first thinking. REad the Free Range kids blog to see how things ought to be!

The term "Free Range kids" raises my hackles because I was unsupervised a lot as a child and it was neglect, pure and simple.
Anyway, of all the places Karen could chat with a stranger, on an airplane with a randomly assigned seatmate is one of the safest. The chances are very small that Lewis would be dangerous and there's not really anywhere he could take her on an airplane. It would be more upsetting to me if she was sitting alone in an airport and a chatty stranger approached her. Karen did show good airplane manners though, by not bothering the busy strangers on her first flight and chatting to Lewis only after asking if he was busy. I loved that he did a crossword in one of her books. He seemed like just a nice guy who liked kids and didn't mind keeping one company on a plane.

Kept Lewis busy, on the plane. Today's society, can't trust anyone these days.
