I love this book! Mary Anne's card to Logan is a bit too mushy, and I could've done without the whole nice samaritan thing. Most of the presents were really, really cool though (Mal totally had the easiest one).

I think the idea they had for a secret santa was a good one. What's your greatest wish?

Since i've never seen this book either, would anyone mind to fill me in on it please? It sounds like a neat book!

The baby-sitters decide to do a secret santa for Christmas. The each write their name and wish on a piece of paper. Everyone draws a wish from a hat and makes it come true.
Like, Shannon's wish was that she had a sense of humor. Her secret santa got her a book of riddles, a joy buzzer and stuff like that.
Jessi's wish was that she could dance with the NYC ballet. Her gift was a postcard or something made up to look like a theater poster of Jessi as the star of a production.
Kristy wished for something easy but MA told her santa that what Kristy really wants is a Christmas card from her dad. She doesn't always get one and it hurts.
MA wanted a real letter or Xmas card from Cam Geary.
Claudia wanted to do something meaningful for someone and by a total coincidence she winds up reuniting two sisters for Xmas. Mal wrote Claud a letter as a gift telling her how she already did something meaningful.
I can't remember what the others wished for. I recommend it. I bought it off Amazon.com for only a couple of bucks.

Since everyone on the Winter Vacation thread wanted to know what MA said in her mushy card to Logan from this book, I had to look. I'm just typing the first paragraph since it is really long and the rest just goes on about MA being Kristy's secret santa. Here it is: [/i]My Sweet Logan, How could I allow this season to pass without sending you heartfelt greetings of friendship, fellowship, holiday spirit and...love? I could not. Logan, I am so glad you are part of my life, a part of me. (I could never tell you this in person, even though I would like to be able to do that.)
The rest goes on with other stuff. That is unbelievable! Wanted everyone else to be able to enjoy this without digging out their own books.

That's pretty heavy for a 13 year old. If another member of Logan's family read that, I wonder what they'd think. Ya think maybe Logan got embarassed about MA once in a while?

I'm surprised Richard didn't lock her up. LOL. I guess he never caught her.

I've often wondered if Logan was embarrassed by MA. Their relationship sometimes seemed strange because she was so over the top gushy and let him dominate her so completely. I could not stop laughing reading this card "a part of me"!!!

Maybe my middle school was weird, but I remember girls I knew writing stuff like that to boys, and getting similar letters from boys as well. At 21 it makes me cringe but at 12 I thought it was normal.

Thinking more about it Dawnomite, you're right. I guess I should remember some of those letters I got from this annoying boy who liked me Wish I would have kept them now (though I had to throw away the cologne drenched one from when I was 8 because it stunk up our house) for a good laugh and maybe to feel super-appreciated - needing that right now

LOL aln. I guess the most complex letters I got as a kid were the old: I like you. Do you like me?

Yup, and "check yes or no". I agree with dawnomite that at a young age you somehow don't think it's so weird. Now, it's just eye-rollingly funny!
MA's card...omg. Seriously? Hahahaha, "fellowship."

The fellowship part sounds like some of the old ladies at my church. LOL. Do many 13 year olds talk like that.

I think MA might have copied some of the card from a cheesy romance novel At least it didn't say "I lick you very much" (that is the note my mom's best friend got from a boy in 8th grade - he was a bit of a Claudia with his spelling ;D Now this discussion has me wanting to search for all of my old letters but I'm sure my mom got rid of them (because I'm often accused of being a pack rat -had every letter I ever received until about 2 years ago when she made me go on a cleaning binge.)
