Honestly, (and this just came to me) I think Ann's kinda like, "I wrote 30 of those books, and mostly left the 'heavy lifting' to the other writers, and they want me to go back?" I'm thinking she's burned out and I can sympathize. When I get tired of something, I'm disgusted by it. Hopefully, a few more years will bring nostalgia to her, and she might say, let's visit the girls again in Stoneybrook!

honestly, i don't think it would make enough money for scholastic for them to underwrite the cost of putting out a book. if they really wanted to make one they could have a ghostwriter make it anyway, even if ann is burned out or whatever.

^ Unfortunately, I think you're right. I don't think there's much of an audience for a reunion book, which makes me doubt that it will happen. I hope I'm wrong, though.

There's always a bidding war for the higher books on eBay, which means there's obviously a market for BSC books out there somewhere

I agree that there probably isn't a big enough market for a reunion market. Really the majority of people who read BSC as children don't still read them, we are in the minority. How well do graphic novels sell? I imagine it would be similar to those in sales.

the sales of graphic novels have not been strong enough for scholastic to warrant extending raina's contract beyond the original four book contract. And while the ebay auctions may be fierce, you can't use ferociousness as a benchmark by which to measure business success. if you looked at the names of people buying books on ebay, i bet you can match up the majority of the usernames with someone who posts here/on the lj community/on the ffnet bsc section. it is a very small fandom, albeit a very intense one. and the success of a site like tiff's bsc headquarters also doesn't accurately portray the amount of people who are interested in bsc either, because if you look at her comments the majority of them aren't from fans; they're from people who are straight up mocking the bsc. my site, on the other hand, is geared toward an audience of serious bsc fans and i have basically the same 100 people visit my site everyday.

Ah, I would love a reunion book!
I was surprised when I went to the library to look up BSC books - there only a few. When I was a kid, there was an entire shelf dedicated to them. And can someone help me here - aren't the Boxcar (or whatever) books older than the BSC? There were a bunch of those at the library.
I wonder if they would consider a shorter version of a book, just to give the fans closure? I would even take a summary. I just want to know what happened to these girls!

I have mixed feelings about a BSC Reunion Book. A part of me doesn't want a BSC Reunion Book because if there was one, that would kind of ruin any fanfics about the BSC reuniting. Also, the reunion book would probably narrow down what fanfics are written since the reunion book would say what happened to the sitters and their families (unless the fanfic author decides to ignore the reunion book or ignore some parts of the book). But another part of me does want a reunion book because I would like to know what happened to them; what occupations they have; if they’re married; if they have kids and if so, how many; etc.

the boxcar series is still being written. Seriously? I've never read them, but I know Aln loved them, and that they're kind old...

I read a few Boxcar Children books when I was a kid, around the same time I started reading the BSC books.
I would love a reunion book. Once, many years ago (way before the series had even ended lol), I wrote down where I thought each of their lives would lead when they finally became adults. I wish I still had that list. It would probably be a very entertaining read now. ;D
