Just read it. Loved it. My absolute favourite thing about it is that the shoe box in Claudia's room said "Antoinette's Shoe Tree" on it, because, like all of us here, I am obsessive about BSC universe details, so I'm glad that Raina clearly is, too. Although I do wonder why Vanessa Pike isn't wearing glasses, because I am a gigantic dork like that. I guess it's possible she didn't get them until somewhere between #4 and #14.
I love seeing Mary Anne sitting in the director's chair at the emergency BSC meeting she calls!

I thought it wasn't coming out until September.

Well, we got it early here. Raina posted last week on the BSC LJ that she thought it might come out earlier than expected in some places, and I just checked LJ and other people have gotten it already in Philadelphia and San Francisco. I remember the first one was supposed to come out in April of 2006, but I got it earlier, at the end of February.

I got mine in MI. I was shocked that Barnes and Noble had it actually. I love the little details too, you can really tell Raina is a BSC fan. My only issue was with the DVD player. Was that really necessary? Don't people still have VCRs? I remember reading somewhere that she originally wanted them to take place in the 80's, so I'm assuming that it was the editors idea or something. But otherwise just great, I loved seeing all the Pikes, I loved seeing the Sharon/Richard thing play out in Graphic Novel form. I really hope she does more than 4...

I didn't mind the DVD player or Claudia's CDs, although it was a little jarring. I don't know who here reads Saddle Club, but I was bugged by Stevie having a CD player instead of a tape player in the reissue of the first book -- it's not a completely different format like the BSC graphic novels, so there seems like even less of a reason to do that.
I am a yarn geek and I like having a picture of Mary Anne knitting. And Mrs. Prezzioso looks just like she should. I also liked that frame where Mallory and Jordan were playing with shark puppets, although I wish I could have seen Claire tell herself, "Claire, you're a hot-dog-head."

This is next on my "To Read" list now that I've finally finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. ;D

Oh, lucky! I'll have to check if it's out here, but since we Canadians never seem to get things early, I doubt it will be. But oh well...even if I have to wait a while still to read it, I'm looking forward to it. I can't wait to see what Dawn looks like!

I've been looking in the bookstore at the mall, butthey can't even order it early... they're like really behind things... *rolls eyes* I'm keeping my eye on amazon too. I dont have a way to get to borders unfortunately...so will have to keep looking at the mall and amazon... I could order it off of there, but i'd have to pay s&h..which would make it more expensive than just waiting to buy it in the mall

I found it at a Borders in northern Indiana. I haven't read it yet, I'll get to it later.

Never pictured Richard with a beard. ;D

^ I totally don't picture that, either. Maybe "seeing" the characters is why I avoid the graphic novels. I didn't realize they changed things in the new versions. Tape player to CD player and things like that would really bother me. I would prefer they leave the books as they were written. But I'm stuck in a time warp, I guess ;D For some reason, I prefer the old versions over the new ones with all the "modern" changes. (to make them more politically correct and make them appeal to the "target audience" of today's kids.)

I was in Chapters today and decided I'd check to see if they had the book. Much to my surprise, there it was! Naturally I bought a copy, went home and read it in about 45 minutes.
Once again I really liked it! I thought Mary Anne's daydream about being stylish at the beginning was a nice touch. It was a bit strange seeing Richard with a beard, and seeing Dawn's DVD player. And Sharon didn't look anything like I thought she would. But I loved everything else. The Pikes are actually pretty cute (especially Mal and Claire). I love that we got to see Dawn's two holes in each ear! And the Prezziosos, while they didn't look like I've always pictured them, looked great.
My randomly favourite thing is the upgrade from the $10 Mr. P. gives Dawn and Mary Anne to $50 each! Even as a kid I thought Mr. P. was being cheap when he only gave them each $10. I guess I wasn't the only one!

^ The $50 might be the only change I would actually like ;D The more I read about these graphic novels, the more I know I don't want to read them because I prefer picturing the characters in my own way. Usually I don't even read the graphic threads but this one caught my eye. Now I am curious, though, what Sharon looked like. One of the books described her as pretty and blonde. Did they change that?

^I always picture Sharon and Richard as they are illustrated on the cover of Dawn's Family Feud. I never caught that they changed the VCR to a DVD player, but I did raise my eyebrows when reading that Mr. P. gave Dawn and Mary Anne $50 each. ;D
