^ Changes like that ruin the story, in my opinion. Wish they wouldn't have changed it at all, which is why I won't read the graphic novels (but am sometimes curious to read this thread and see what others have to say about them ;D).

Okay, I'm a dork, but I definitely remember that Dawn got her two holes in #21. Spray, punch punch! I wanted two holes after that (and only had to wait another 18 years to make it happen).

I didn't like this either. Wonder why they decided to do that?
Other than that, I really loved the book. I didn't mind the scene where MA goes to sit by her mother's grave. I felt really bad for her...in a fight with all of her friends, feeling like she has no one.

Re: Alma Spier's grave (it's Alma, right...or Abigail), although it's a great illustration I too couldn't help being a bit upset about seeing Mary Anne visit it because it negates one of my favorite moments in Mystery #5 when Mary Anne is searching for her mom's grave, can't find it and ends up sobbing at Mimi's grave.
I actually like the rendering of Richard Spier. I do not like Sharon because I don't think she looked middle-aged enough. I really like the pages with Mary Anne and Mimi bonding over special tea (their embrace after Claudia finds them is cute) and I like the following meeting where Mary Anne is watching Claudia work on her painting. I don't know if it's Raina's own experience with artwork, but I think she captures Claudia as a more talented artist than Ann did.
That aside, I love the graphix novels in that it's something new but old at the same time. It's new-old, as Mallory would call it. I have all three and I am looking forward to the final one. It would be great if Scholastic commissioned Raina to do another. I personally would love to see a Super Special, but I've read that Raina practically illustrates herself to death for these books.

Definitely "new-old" And an SS would have been amazing.

1. Mary Anne went to visit her mother's grave, when she doesn't even find out where it is until Mystery #5. I guess the visit was probably included here because there won't BE a graphic novel of that book. I loved the visiting the grave part. It seems something so geniune and real. I can't see Richard with a beard... I see him as the illustrations in MA's portrait, not the Hodges Soilue version. Is anyone else surprised Sharon has curly hair?

Nope. Sharon is described as having short, curly hair in the book.

And yet almost all covers and inner book illustrations have her with striaght hair. Shakes head.

The Graphic novels are okay, but not as great as the original ones. The pictures are horrible.

I love the original covers for the nostalgia. But Raina's drawings are very cute.
